A question for any current Hotpoint techs, or anyone else who may know the answer. 🙂
I have a WM72, date code 65 machine with a faulty power module.
I have a good 1603161 power module.
Just my bad luck that according to parts list and manual the module changed from a 1602843 to a 1603161 at date code 66. 😥
Sometimes in the front of the old manuals it used to list any major changes by date code, giving reason or precise details of the modification. Unfortunately, the manual No 5402970 which covers WM71/72/73 does not have any such information so, the question is, can I fit this 1603161 power module to a Date code 65 WM72, the wiring diagram is exactly the same for all three models?

Jim i take it this module doesnt have a transformer and the one on the machine does, if so there is a kit 1603283 which comes whith wiring an earth clip and some locating pegs for the new module, you remove earth from the motor cutting at the spade conection on the console, the earth wire from the kit is attached to the motor and using the clip supplied clamped to the cabinet next to the motor all the wiring is identical otherwise.

Thanks for that johnny, in fact the module I have does have the large transformer on it so it may well be an earlier module in the wrong box, it is three or four years since I ordered this module trying to cure an apparent E15 fault, before I twigged it was due to heater going down to earth. I think I will pop back with this module and compare the numbers on the board, might save me a few pennies. I could well have put the original module in this box, memory not what it was. 😆
