ParticipantHi,
My 5yr old Hotpoint wf840 washer started with a h20 error code and wasn’t filling, the water seemed to bypass my machine completely and go straight out through the waste pipe.
Hotpoint explained it was a plumbing problem not a machine problem.
After fiddling and lifting the waste hose higher at the back of my machine the h20 error was replaced with the f05 error because now the machine wouldn’t drain.
Again, Hotpoint gave me the same advice.
I lowered the hose again, switched off the machine to reset the memory and it drained. At the end of the cycle it displays f11 – which i don’t know the meaning of .
I now go through the rigmaroll of hose-moving up and down with every load i do!
Tonight i have discovered a kink in the hose!!!
Can anyone please tell me whether the kink could be the cause of my problem? or whether there may actually be a fault with the machine as i have read in previous forums that it may be a pump problem .
My extended warranty expires next month but i don’t think Hotpoint will send an engineer out if its a plumbing problem.
Sorry for my lengthy message!! 😕June 5, 2007 at 11:49 pm #216050Penguin45

Basics.
1/ End of drain pipe must be above the halfway point of the drum or there is a possibilty of the machine syphoning. Water runs in, water runs out……..
2/ The drain pipe should follow the shortest, straightest route to the drain that is possible. It should not be kinked, trapped or forced round tight angles as this will strangle the flow of water out of the machine.Faults
H2O – yup no fill.
F11 – pump cannot be activated.
F5 – to do with water level control.Based on what you have said, and assuming that you have dealt with the kinked hose, either the filter is at least partially blocked or the drain pump itself is on its way out. The filter is in the black hose under the drum at the back and the pump sits next to it.
Power off if you are going to investigate this.

Thanks for your speedy and helpful response.
I will try to replace the kinked hose myself tomorrow and if that fails i will phone for a Hotpoint engineer to investigate the rest!
The hose does have to go up then down and round a corner so as you say, the water flow may be strangled.
However, it has miraculously worked fine in that position for 18months and only started playing up in the last couple of months.
Many thanks once again and also for explainaing the error codes to me 😀 -
