I am new to this Forum stuff so please be patient. My Whirlpool dish washer model ADG 6340AV has started with problems. Often only the 40 cycle is selectable with LED lighting up, with the power on button giving 4 flashes. On holding down the On button for a few seconds the cycle will start and then stop after what appears to be a short rinse(few seconds). Often at this point the On button requires a further short press to start the cycle for real this time. Everything appears ok, cycle starts tablet door open and drops down washer fills etc and then after 10-15mins of what should be a half hour cylcle is empties and stops again with 4 flashes of the on button ever present. Open the door and the washer has done a half wash with heat present but not what I would call full heat. Any help would be appreciated.

Four flashes is no drain detected in the time allowed. Assuming that it does drain, it may well be the level sensor at fault. Remove filters and look into the sump. At the 3 o’clock position is a black plastic grid, this fills up with fatty deposits and jams the mechanism. You can try using a toothbrush and plenty of hot water to clean it out – it may be neccessary to actually remove the unit for proper cleaning. It’s a twist fit from underneath – power off, of course.
