ParticipantI bought a Borsch slimline Logixx dishwasher SRS55L22GB just a month agp April 23rd over the internet, at the time thought I was buying one of the best AAA models available for the price. Had intend to get one a £100 cheaper AAA rated model of another manufacturer I wish I had kept to that decision. I was looking at another sellers web site and saw that Borsch has withdrawn this machine the SRS66L22GB it can not have been on the market very long as I think this is one of their the latest models bought out by Borsch. I telephoned this web site to ask why it had been withdrawn the person I spoke to said she could not find the number of the model listed. So I assume no one is going to tell me even if they know. I should say that right from the start of using this machine I had doubts about it, thought it was not drying properly as there appeared to be no difference of drying between the quick wash programe with no drying phase and and the programs with the drying program the amount of water left on top of mugs ans cups was the same,in each, I would have thought there would be less left on the tops of mugs or anything with an indentation if the wash was hotter and more hot air to dry with.
Also there was and is, a streak of thick what looks like powder scum down the right hand inside ledge of door where the seal makes contact with the door and runs down to hinge of door at the bottom, concerned this will cause problems in the future if it gets inside the door itself or rusts the hinge. This is difficult to get rid of its the same every wash, dont understand why the rinsing waryer dosent remove it though it looks quite thick. Have had difficulties in trying to speak to someone at Borsch with my concerns was hanging on the telephone for ages in the end sent two e-mails. The complaint about the powder splash down inside ledge of door was not addressed at all they probably thought I was talking about the usual staining you get on the inside of door, this is ilooks very different it is very hard to get off it always looks thick. the seal apears to be alright. However got to talk to someone to day and he assured me it was normal, that the seal does not hold back everything. I dont know I am wondering how long it will be before it starts really leaking here, on a couple of occasions I felt it was damp down the edge of the door before I opened it. Since realising something must be very wrong with this model if the manufacturer has withdraw it after just bringing it out I have become even more worried. The chap I spoke to also explained there is no separate hot air to dry at the end because of the energy saving and relies on the heat from the rinse to dry he said I would not be able to handle dishes on the highest temperature straight after the wash finishing. I can and I am sure will have to try it again , I am wonder if there is something wrong with the heater. The only way of knowing would be to call out their engineer, the trouble is I would have to pay for this if thy say there is nothing wrong, it has not stopped the machine from working. Any advice you are able to give me would be much appreciated. Dishwashers are not a thing I can afford to buy very often so I wanted this one to last me out so to speak if I had spent less money on a machine perhaps I would not be so concerned, the one dishwasher I had in the past I can not recall giving me this stress. If you can tell me why the machine was withdrawn that would be a start knowing what problems it could come up with yet, perhaps I have got it wrong and Logixx machines are are older and that is why they have taken them out but I am sure it is one of their lastest model, thinking about, it will spared parts be available for very long if they have stopped producing this machine so soon. Have not taken this up with the company who sold me the machine, I rang them first they told me the call Borsch. I am wondering what my rights would be to ask them to take it back, I dont fancy my chances, as the machine is working ,if it has a fault ot not I dont at this time know I am hoping you could give me your opinion and advice. I would I imagine have to prove it even if the manufacurer has withdrawn this model that would not be enough even if it has a small fault I just hope it is safe. Do you think I well get an answer to why they have been withdrawn. Thank you in advance…..Imnust 😕 😕 ❓ ❓June 7, 2007 at 10:02 pm #216234iadom

Hopefully some of the BOSCH experts will come along to answer some of your queries.
However, had you purchased this machine from a local indepenent retailer you would have had far better service, support and information than you will ever get from an online seller.
Believe it or not, some online retailers operate from their own bedroom.
You may pay a few pounds more but just think of the peace of mind and the reduced stress levels 😉
PS. If you can give us the Enr and FD numbers from inside the door someone will be able to date your machine with a fair degree of accuracy.

Hi
As far as i’m aware this model is STILL availiable, and is a slimline machine, the SRS66L22GB does not exsist as a slimline and the model should be SGS66L22GB which would make it a full size 12 place setting appliance. BSH group do use a multitude of model numbers on many similar groups of appliances and this can get very confusing for the consumer, generally most parts are all identical between brand, for example Neff and Siemens and Bosch appliances butjust varie cosmeticly, even electronic components are the same, just coded accordingly to that appliance, spare parts are availible for ALL group appliances until at least 10 years old. BSH hold nearly all parts UK stock, if not, parts are availiable from Germany in less than 10 days! All engineers work are pre prepped and spares for the following days work are delivered the night before.
Rest assured, you have made a good choice of appliance, its a high end appliance, very popular and extremely reliable, but as Jim has said, you don’t always get the answers you require from inrternet purchases.
I would ask first, are you using tablets or liquid, powder and if so are you adding rinse aid and salt??
As far as I have found, 3 in 1 etc tabs are useless without seperat rinse aid and salt. Powder and liquid detergents are a no no as they tend to seperate or can be under or over dosed, leave steaks and aggrevate glass erosion.
The chemical salt in tablets does NOTHING, water softening takes place in the water softner, the salt is used to regenerate this and flush it, the machine does not wash in salty water, the chemical in the tablet never enters the water softner and without salt to regenerate it will block up and fail.
Rinse aid causes the water to displace as it breaks the surface tension of the water, like when you polish a car and wet it, the water beads off, rinse aid creates the same effect. Without rinse aid the machine will not dry effectively and pools of water will be left. The rinse aid in detergent is not sufficiant and will be lost well before the final rinse where it is needed.
The machine relies on residual heat from the last rinse to dry so it is of paramount importance that the machine is not disturbed during the last rinse/dry as heat will be lost and drying will not take place. Plastic wil NOT dry as it is not thermally effeciant and cannot store heat to dry unlike stoneware which will store heat and dry nicely.
Items must be removed as soon as the appliance has finished as if it is left to cool down and go cold, any water inside the machine will re-condense back onto the wash load.
Quick wash programme will not dry, and will also leave detergent residue as is not intended for main wash loads, its just not hot enough for the task and will not break down all the detergent, grease etc, this programme is most suited for glasses, which require a lower tempreture. Washing glassware on hot washes will cause glass erosion (cloudiness).
The streaks you report may be down to detergent but without seeing it I am mystified, also its worth buying a decent brand detergent such as Finish.
If you are still concerned it may be worth speaking to someone in Product Advice, if they cannot give you an answer and my information does not help then an engineer visit may be the only route, its worth bearing in mind that 95{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of dishwashers I get called to for ‘faults’ tend to be customer misunderstanding of the product.
Hope this helps

Thank you Iadom, much appreciate your thoughts on my problem with new Dishwasher, Took a torch and magnifying glass to look at this information indented into the the top of door again to find the FD no. I took me an awful long time first to find it for Borsch, got lucky when I felt the indentation under my fingers tips as I was pulling of white advertising label thought it might be unerneath, It was just at the side of this label this is just a tip for any other Borsch diswasher owners searching for these numbers easy to miss if the light is not shining on it the right way.
Mine reads EN-Nr at the top no other number with it, below that is SRS55L22GB/01 below that FD 8704 further on on the that same line is 000076 these numbers are all inside a square there are others outside with the wattage, hope this identifies the dishwasher.
Also I would also like to say I wish I had of known about UK Whitegoods for advice before I had shopped for my dishwasher, as is the way, you only find out to late. I quite take your point about using if you have one a local independent retailer, you are getting to speak to someone face to face to get advice and to hopefully sorting out any problems instead of wasting time hanging on to the telephone to the manufacturer hoping your might get to speak to someone that day, and if not who do you contact next if the seller has already passed you on to the manufactuer and you are finding it impossible to get to speak to someone there. The trouble is you are dependent on the manufactures quarantee the at this stage if you can not afford paying extra for the retailers insurance. If the dishwasher does not work at all of course you can safely use the Sale of Goods to get the company that sold it you to take it back, well I hope you could, though I begin to wonder if it is that simple now, In my case I was trying to understand what you should expect from a new machine following brochure instructions I was expecting an AAA rated machine to dry my cups and mugs having stacked them on a slope as shown in brochure using salt, blocks and rinse aid and then trying powder and rinse aid instead of blocks all in the right places SILLY ME not to know cups etc dont dry and seals do not seal everything these days. Borsch man made me feel I was expecting to much from this poor little machine, well it wasnt that cheap a friend who had just bought simlar Borsch Slimline different number and cheaper model said his one dried cups and got no mystery streaks of powder round the inside corners of the doors, where you assume the seal should be keeping them out. The man at Borsch had said these seals do not keep everything out,he said his is the same all around not just one side it can happen he says where where grease builds up,. I pointed out this was a new machine had been like it from the beginning and little or no grease had had the chance to build up, it would have been wiped away anyway, dread to think how he cares for his dishwasher come to think of it does not really sound like much of an advertisement for Borsch dishwashers.
Well a friend is very happy with the one he had bought two weeks before mine that was why I decided to get a Borsch, he has seen the results I get so its not just me being female and picky and feels sure mine cant be right, but then sounds as though he was lucky with his if it dries mugs perhaps I have the wrong sort of mugs. At the time I got this one he said he had wished he had paid a bit more to get this one but had not seen this model at that time he offered to swop wish I had taken up the offer because he wont swop it now. Sorry I have not got back before now as it takes me a long time to type out my thoughts and I am new to using forums. The website i bought it from by the way trades for the Comet Group said they had good customer servive etc. didnt think there would be any problems SILLY ME!June 9, 2007 at 11:13 pm #216237gegsy

Hi
You could try switching from the default “Normal” drying to the “Intensive” drying cycle.
This is achieved by holding the third button from the left down whilst you switch appliance on with on/off switch.
The display should now show 0. If you now release and press the same button again it should change to a 1 indicating that intensive dry has been chosen.Switch off appliance the setting will now be stored and the drying temperature will be raised slightly. You should notice a better drying performance now (except quick wash of course)Greg

There are a few things you need to know about the Bosch dishwashers, in order to get the best out of them.
The Bosch machines dry by condensing moisture out of the wash tank, onto the left-hand wall, by means of the heat exchanger / fill matrix. They DO NOT have ‘active drying’ systems like fans or heaters. (The heater used to heat the wash and rinse waters, is used solely for those functions). Because of this condensing method, you HAVE TO USE rinse aid, and it HAS to be set correctly. Adjust the rinse aid dispenser to the mid point setting (usually 3 or 4).
Activating the ‘intensive dry’ option raises the temperature of the final rinse (and might prolong the drying time).
I find that I wash a load in the evening, and leave the machine for up to an hour after (with the door still closed). Then before going to bed, open the door and switch off the machine, and LEAVE THE MACHINE DOOR AJAR, WITH THE DISHES INSIDE. In the morning, come down to beautifully dry dishes.

Thank you NATIONALHOMECARE for all the information, helps to understand how the chemicals work with each other. I have been following brochure from the start as to what to put in Filled up with salt and was using block and rinse aid and then powder and rinse aid, and I have been using all Finish products, but the extra information you have given is very usefull in knowing how those products interact once you close the door of the dishwasher I must apologise that you had been looking at wrong Bosch dishwasher number I had put the correct one in at the start of my post SRS55L22GB then further down I call it the SRS66L22GB slip of the fingers my bad typing along with calling a Bosch a Borsch (Thank you IADOM). Think I will have to get a bigger screen or find my glasses, don’t know much about computers either I am typing in very small print here, must do something about it. So sorry to confuse as to size of machine not fitting the model number. Anyway thank you for reassurance about parts being available etc. If I want to get rid of the strange powdery scum down the right hand side inner ledge that fit into machine I suppose I would have to have a new rubber seal to stop this happening I don’t like the fact that it runs onto the door hinge and where it might go from there into the door itself I don’t know as there is a gap there. The man at Bosch said it was Ok he is like it all around the edges, the and the seals dont keep everything out he said it happens when there is a build up of grease but iI pointed out this was a new machine I dont eat greasy food there certainly would not be a build up as I clean it away each time though it gets a bore as it is thick and difficult to wipe of there unlike the rest of the door but not getting much staining there at all, just don’t understand why the rinse water does not wash it away because it is in an awkward place I suppose where it closes in to the machine, just wish the wash block and powder did not reach there to, if I get puddles on the floor I suppose that will be the time to worry. Never mind I will persevere with all the good tips I am getting thank you to GREGSY and TRILOBITE for their information to. I will persevere. Many Thanks All
