I see Admiral/Maytag recommend here for reliable American style freezers, but those brands as far as I know are not available here in Portugal.

What other brands should I be looking at for reliable well built fridges?

    Thanks in advance

Too many 😛 Siemens, Samsung, LG, Ariston, Whirlpool, Bosch, AEG, Hoover, etc

I’m going to link maybe 2 Portuguese shops. So you can get an idea of what’s available here. I’ll post in a little while…

Here’s some American style fridges two big Portuguese stores carry:

Don’t forget to check out page two!

I’ve been out looking at fridges recently, inside most of them look pretty bland to me. It isn’t easy trying figure out which ones are quality products.

I don’t want to spend a lot. I might ditch my idea of getting an american style fridge and just go for a standard combined fridge…

Okay, this is only my own personal opinon based on what I see and can read there…

Samsung, not the worst, not the best either.

    LG, avoid.

Whirlpool, much on a par with Samsung but the spares prices (when you need them) are a total rip off.

    Ariston, avoid.

    Balay, basically a cheap Bosch/Siemens. 😉

    Siemens, pretty decent.

Indesit… avoid like it has some strange disease you really don’t want unless you have suicide in mind.

    Hope that helps.

    K.
