ParticipantThis is the side by side fridge freezer without the water cooler.
I hav’nt bothered with Samsung, its out of warranty now, when it was repaired under warranty, (freezer problem) the engineer had a hit and miss approach anyway, I work in electronics, and my experience with samsung tells me it would be a waste of energy anyway.
Problem started with fridge not cooling, I cured this by removing cover and defrosting, fault came back – of course- after 6 months. this time, temperature stayed at about 10 or 12 for a day, fan wouldnt start, but then fault went away for a couple of months, and all was well. now its back. fridge stays at about 10 but very occasionally goes to 3 for a bit.
temp sensor and defrost sensor ( I think thats what it is, clipped to pipe just above evaporator ) resistance is about 5 K for both of them, drops to about 50 ohms when I set the hairdryer on it.
after holding down the top buttons, the right hand bottom segment stays lit.
Is it the defrost sensor ? and where is the thermal fuse I keep reading about ? can you supply ?

Hi
The fault code that you have indecated is the evaperator cover that will require to be changed.
that will cure your fault, either from myself or the on line shop.

is that the really crappo cheap (samsung qualiy) looking polystyrene bit, or the whole
cover ? or is there more to it…have you noticed one end seems heavier than the other ?As a matter of interest, why doesnt the fan run straight away after I defrost it manually ?
I’m not doubting your advice, I just like to know how things work.
How much for the part, and how long to get one, I’m fed up of putting bottles of frozen water in it just to keep the beer cold.

Hi
The cost of the part is £82.25 in the on-line shop, delivery normally within 48hrs.the sensors ect are also available there.
The fan wont start till the defrost sensor reaches -5oc to that it does not circulate warm air.
Please also bear in mind that the sensors are not designed to be heated up with a hair drier so you may be benificial changing the defrost sensor at the same time.

Participanthow much is defrost sensor ??, could I prove the fault by disconnecting it and see if the fan runs, or would this just shut the system down ?

i would also change the thermal fuse (cable tied @ lower right hand side of evaporator,) if this is faulty then heater wont come on..
there is also a new drain hole widget thats supposed to prevent air coming back up drain hole…
ally…
