    Bosch SGS66A02GB/20 dishwasher. FD8212.

    Where do I start? :rolls:

Reported fault was ‘first it was stopping on 1 minute; now it won’t fill and it only makes a churning noise’.
Stripped the casing off; no water in the base. Sump to metering unit hose clear. 😕 Switched on the power and the overfill/alarm microswitch on the water metering unit fizzes and smoulders. Turns out that the machine had been transported on its side (“salty water everywhere in my car”) but strangely it had been working OK for 6 weeks.
Changed the microswitch, set a programme and the pump runs, then the main wash motor but doesn’t fill. The delay/time LED display always defaults to ‘2h’ when machine is turned on, you have to manually set it to ‘0h’ to start. Display has a segment missing on one of the numerals. There are wet spots inside the facia and on the PCB boxes; customer later tells me that he had laid it over on its side again and removed the sides to investigate the fault before he called me.
I came away thinking ‘PCB and delay display unit’. I must admit to not substituting a new valve due to the probable cost of the display problem.

Any ideas? The ‘stopping on 1 minute’ problem seems common on Bosch machines.

    Steve.

P.S. The bloke told me that he had attempted to repair the dishwasher because, in his words, he had “a good mechanical mind”. I was tempted to ask him if he had mislaid it. 😈

    My honest opinion………
Walk away from it, he has totally fcuk’d it. The board for this machine is in the bottom right hand side of the base, sounds like water has gained entry to it messing up that and display PCB.
The 1 fault can be caused by a blocked heat exchanger on the left or a faulty outlet valve next to the regen one on the salt pot, as well as the usuall blocked pressure chamber and sump hose.
Thats all going to cost serious money, and where do you start?
I’d leave old messer boy with his mechanical moron mind to get on with it 😆
Sorry I couldn’t help you more.

Thanks Greg for the PDF’s – and Steve for the moral support. 😆
This bloke is in his mid 60’s, probably had extensive experience assembling Airfix kits (hence the ‘mechanical mind’). Knows everything and nothing all at once.
For my money, he’s a time-served, fully qualified merchant banker. 😉

    Cheers,

    Steve.

P.S. Just fitting the handle to my ‘Exit’ door……… 😀
