ParticipantI have a Whirlpool S20ERWW1V side by side FF. In the last few days the temp has been dropping in the fridge half (the freezer seems fine). I have been adjusting the digital temp control to try and compensate but today I got home from work to find everything frozen solid. I have again adjusted the temp, now 6 degrees, and this seems to be having some effect. 6 degrees is the highest setting.
The FF is only 18 months old and the seals are fine.Any ideas please.
Edit: this morning everything seems to be back to normal (apart from the exlploded eggs) but I would still like to know if anyone has experienced this before.

The motorised air damper had frozen open, hence the freezing in the freezer.
The software on the machine will attempt to rectify the problem (if machine is newer than 2003) before defaulting to an error code “d”.
Older machines can’t try to rectify unless the electronics have been changed, they will just give error code “d”.Trying to compensate for the temperatures won’t do anything if the dampers stuck.

Ok, thanks for that, the problem seems to have rectified itself now as all is well.
I didn’t get an error code. Do you know why the damper would freeze and can I get to it if it happens again?Steliz

Hi,
It’s one year later and I’m having the same problem again.
No error codes but the same hot weather.
Is there anything I can do to unstick the damper?hanks

We usualy just change them, there are no user servicable parts in the damper.
Part number is 481244528021 which you can find HERE? in the shop

Hi,
I have the same problem as Steliz with my side-by-side S20ERWW2V-A/G. No error code, just frozen food in the fridge. A few questions:
1. Can the air damper be defrosted as Toff suggests?
2. Is this the thing at the top left of the fridge? There’s also an air duct from the freezer lower down.
3. If I have to fork out £81 for a new one, is it an easy DIY fit?Any help greatly appreciated 😀

ParticipantWhirlpool problem
Hi,
I still have the same FF and the cure for the recurring problem is to simply defrost. No new parts or expense necessary.
I now have another problem, the FF started making a loud clicking noise which I traced to the lower right corner where there is a plastic box with a small viewing panel. Inside is a circuit board. I can get the clicking to stop by opening and closing the fridge door but it starts again when I open the freezer door. Also there is no power to the control panel. Apart from that it is working normally.
Thanks in advance
