    I have a Hotpoint DWF70S which is about 4 years old, and has just started showing the AL-10 code, which I believe is a heating element issue. 🙁

    Is it something I could repair myself with the parts on this website ? If not, would you recommend using an independent engineer, or the hotpoint engineer ?

    I guess cost is the major deciding factor. Thanks to anyone who can help. 🙂

    If you have access to the proper electrical test equipment then you should be able to test the heating element in this ‘Indesit’ machine. Heater is a known weak point but the main PCB can also cause this fault. The heater is a tube type, it has rather awkward hoses clips, difficult to refit the old ones.

    Mains plug out and access from underneath after removing base plate. Be sure to make a note of the position of the wiring plug to the float microswitch.

    Parts are covered for five years but the manufacturers labour charge is almost £90.00.

    Try the link below if you do not feel confident to proceed yourself, they should be able to give you some idea of the cost of fitting a heater.

    Thanks for your help. It has now stopped twice, but half through the cycle, and when it is already heating up. Therefore, it seems more like the heater is failing.

    Would you agree ?

    If so, I will check the unit out, and see how the repair looks, and then use the link if I feel it is above me.

    it may well still be a weak solder on the module, when its been heateing for a while it gets hotter & looses the circuit, usually if a heater failed it goes totally
