    Hi there,

My nearly new (6 months old) Bosch fridge-frizer (mod. E-nr KGN34X60GB/01 FD8606) is not working anymore. Neither the fridge nor the freezer is working. Not an electrical supply problem though as the lignt inside is still functioning. I noticed a couple of days before the final big fault that the fan (probably the one from the frost-free system) wasn t running as it did normally after the fridge door closes.

Q1. Any tips for a quick and simple way to make this appliance work again.
Q2. Appointment taken with a Bosch approved service center (appliance still under warranty). One hitch though. Next available appointment is in a week time. Any advice on how to get a speedier service done (area is Norwich, Norfolk).
Do I have to use the service center provided by the retailer or can I try to arrange another appointment with any service center approved by Bosch.
    If so, any adresses?
Q3. Is this model particularly subject to recurrent fault and problem (according to pros expertise and experience).
Q4. From day one, I found the noise the frost free system fan does very…well let’s say irritating. It does say on the user guide than this kind of noise is perfectly normal and not to be worried about. I start wondering now if that “normal noise” was really normal. Any input on this one. Has anyone with similar appliance experienced sth similar?

    THANK YOU FOR YOUR ANSWERS.

you could try switching it off for 48hrs and then restarting it – This may get your F/F up and running again until Bosch can get out to have a look at it .

    ahem

id put money on it being blocked full of ice, so id go along with the 48hr defrost kit

itll probably need the drain hole heater conversion, its about the right kind of age

trouble is, if you defrost it and its working when the bosch guy comes, theres a good chance he’ll charge you

    good luck….

Re: Bosch Fridge Freezer fault E-nr KGN34X60GB/01

I did the recommended 48 h defrost and tried to power the fridge again with no result.
I had to wait a week time to see a repairer showing. I was amazed to learn that out of the 3 Bosch approved repairers in my area, only one could do the job under the warranty. The other two would have charge me and more importantly I would have lost the remaining of my warranty. Hence the long delay.

Verdict from the expert. Compressor dead. Fridge dead. Exchange agreed. Voucher provided.

Well, that s not exactly what I expected from a Bosch fridge-freezer. I seriously think about buying sth more reliable, hence not a Bosch.

Overeacting? I don t know. Any inputs?

Maybe a tad 😀 sometimes even the better makes of any machine have the occasional hiccup. 😉
On the whole they are a good brand IMHO

Agree with you with the occasional hiccup. I have also a Bosh dishwasher I am 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} satisfied with. So no personal hardfeeling with Bosch.

Refering to the forum though (see Amo message left on the 3rd of July), the problem doesn t look to be an “occasional” one with this Bosch F/F model KGN34X00GB(white)/KGN34X60GB(silver).

I wouldn t recommend this particular model to anyone.

Do you know if Bosch have done some modification on this model, as Amo suggested in one of his message.

    Thankx

and here, in this space, is the answer

    the defrost heater isnt working

bosch have now decided to introduce yet another modification, which, ridiculously takes a good engineer a minimum of 2 hours to modify the evaporartor/defrost heater assembly.. only time will tell if this actually works

they should do with them what theyhotpoint should do with the vtd dryer – start with a blank piece of paper, and make something else!!

yet for bosch, this is greatly out of charachter, for years theyve been manufacturing quality appliances… on askin the tech guy @ bosch about them. he answered ‘people want blown air frost frees now, wet walls are an old idea”

old idea yes.. reliable? we all know the answer..

    ill shut up now

Its only 2 hours if you have to defrost the evaporator yourself…..much better to get the customer to defost the appliance 48hrs before you arrive – approx 40 mins then 🙂

Re: Bosch Fridge Freezer fault E-nr KGN34X60GB/01

I purchased a Bosch KGN33V60GB Frost Free F/F in October and within 3 months my thermostat in the fridge section wouldn’t go below 10 degrees.

A tech guy from Bosch came and told me it was a new model and one percent had a problem with the fan heater and of course mine was that one percent. 👿

Now 4 months later the problem has re-curred and a tech guy is coming out on Wednesday.

I’m very disappointed and am tempted to ring them and demand a new model – Am I within my rights ?

    Thanks 🙂

ah well you see, its ok demanding the customer does a 48hr defrost, and being all upfront and clever about it

whats your response to the ‘ what about all my freezer food’ line?

do you just tell em to get lost or do you pay them for it, after all it is a design fault , so why should they pay?

if your gonna be all smart, at very least be sure that what you say is reasonable

    sheesh

oh and vee, its debatable at 7 months old

if you can get the engineer to admit its a fault thats been present from new, then you might be in with a chance, you’d be better speaking to trading standards really, exchanges have always been a ‘sticky’ subject

bosch claim theres now a fix, and its new, so its as yet untested, but bosch are pretty good, and quite often, they get it right

    hope this helps

Mate , where did i say the word ‘demand’ ? A simple question to ask the customer and if they say they can’t do it then fair enough , i’d go in there and do the full defrost for them. I have never demanded a customer to do anything…..only suggested .
However , sometimes a pleasant word in the customers ear and , if possible , they find a suitable place to store their food , defrost the appliance for a time and its a lot quicker visit for both parties.
