Attended Mr Milestone’s tumble dryer yesterday – broken drive belt, slightly awkward spot in the scullery, so get a bit engrossed in the fix. After about 20 minutes, Mr Milestone sticks his head round the door and says,
“I’m off, got to got to a funeral. The wife’ll be down in a mo.”
I replied,
“Right you are, Mr Tombstone.”Ooooooooops………..

And tonight…. 5 members of the Station Auxiliary Quiz Team manage to assemble (in The Station for once) for the weekly competition and beer fest.
No less than 4 teams managed to tie on the 4 corners prize. The tiebreaker question was:
“What was the most number of words spoken by a woman in one minute?”
Realising that I hadn’t got the faintest idea, I wrote as my answer,
“I’ve got no idea, ask the wife.”
Unfortunately, Mick The Landlord read out the answers on the microphone…… Out of the corner of my eye, I spotted the blur of Mrs P’s arm and managed to duck and block at the same time. The degree of hilarity was such that they gave us the prize.
Off to the spare room shortly………
