ParticipantI have owned one of these wine coolers for a couple of years and it works very well.
I have now purchased a second one but have the following problem.
Set for red wine the front indicator goes to 13 c with the temperature inside maintained at about 15.5 c.
However every 25mins or so the front temperature indicator drifts down to 10 c and back up to 13 c (over about 7mins). The inside temperature remains about 15.5 c.
This does not happen with the original cooler and I am wondering how to sort out this annoying problem.
Any suggestions gratefully received.June 30, 2007 at 12:37 pm #219110Mac1982

Thanks for the suggestion.
I have talked to Samsung. They took the frig away and returned it with the same fault (I am not sure what they did as they didn’t say).
It is difficult to explain to them as the fault only occurs every 25mins or so. I have now taken photos with (the times indicated) to help clarify the problem.June 30, 2007 at 5:16 pm #219112admin

Mike
The temprature will rise and fall due to the sensor having to turn off and on,the temprature you are giving gives a average temprature of 12oc,What are you mesuaring the temprature inside with ?.
What temprature have you set it to ?,have you changed the custom cool setting since you have had it returned ?
The temprature is designed to rise and fall and cannot be a constant temprature, the older model had a different temprature senser assembly which any manufacturer will change at any given time.
If you look at the model number yours will have RW13EBSS2/XEU serial number 11244ABP200120J

Thanks Bryan,
The cooler is set to the red wine setting (13oc) as on startup.
I have mercury type max/min thermometer inside giving an unchaged temperature of 15.5oc.
The older one I have remains with the red wine setting (13oc) and 13oc all the time inside with no change in the indications on the front.June 30, 2007 at 5:49 pm #219114admin

Hi
The temprature on your appliance is correct,as i have said the old style did not show temp drops ect just an average.the current model will give actual temprature at any point.so yes you will see the temprature rising and falling when the compressor cuts in and switches off.

Thanks again Brian,
I still feel there is a problem with the temp indicating system as it varies between 13oc and 10oc with no obvious connection to the compressor going on and off.
In spite of the above the temperature inside is always nice and constant at 15oc (slightly above the specification but I have no real problem with this) so why doesn’t the indicator stay constant?

Hi Mike
your thermostat is a mercury that does not take minut changes immediatly, the sensor that is on the wine cooler can sense changes as low as .5 oc and this is what is on the indicator.
The indecator show the actual temprature at that particular second.as the temprature rises inside then this will display straight away.
your old model which is RW13BESS1/XEU has a average temprature display which will not change unles there is a long temprature rise or drop.
each time the door is opened or the compressor cuts out the temrature in the MK2 (your new one)will show a fairly rapid temprature change on the display.Mk1 will take a lot longer as this is averaged out over a period and does not show an immediat change.

Thermostats work in the following way…
thermostat siupplies power to compressor.once the thermostat reaches 2oc the thermosts switches off.
at say 9oc the thermostat will switch back on until it again reaches 2oc.
add the 9oc and 2oc together and then divide in half which give you an approx average temprature of 5oc.
electronis sensors can be set to either show actual temprature or average temprature.
MK1 average temprature over a period of time
MK2 actual tempratureyour new chiller is MK2
or I will try to explain when I see you on monday.

Brian,
Thanks for all your replies.
Will talk on Monday.
Regards,
Mike
(I think I still prefer the old style MK1 indicating system – why do they have to change these things!)August 23, 2011 at 8:38 am #219119Mitchie1976

Hello,
sine you guys seem to know what you’re talking about, I thought I’d hijack this post:
My wine fridge shows error code E3. It seems that the temperature sensor is failing. The item is out of warranty and I’m not prepared to pay £75 for an engineers visit + parts if I can help it. Therefore:
1. Does anyone know what part I need
2. How do I get to it to replace?Any help/assistance would be greatly appreciated!
BR,
Chris -
