ParticipantReading this Forum, it seems to happen a lot. The fridge /freezer is nearly 3 years old. Last week the fan in the fridge started getting noisy. Then the temp reading crept up to 13. Looking at the fridge, there is ice behind the salad drawers on the lower part of the fridge. The top half of the fridge is warm , but the bottom is cold.
I’m realise my first action will be to defrost (pity I cant defrost the fridge on its own as I have a full freezer). When I press and hold down the left and right upper buttons, the display show one horizontal bar. Does this tell me what the fault is ?? Can I get the spares here?
Great Forum, it seems to be my only hope as nobody I tried in Yellow Pages seems to be interested.
Many thanks

This fault usually means a fault with the fan motor.
that line that has shown up, assuming its the bottom line on the right hand digit means the fan hasnt spun within the last 80 mins.
this effects the top half of the fridge as the cold air doesnt get circulated round the fridge, hence the ice in the bottom half because of the cold air falling to the base of the appliance.
Usually this can be fixed by changing the fan motor, or as its called plenhiem ( the bottom piece that says TWIN COOLING on it )If the temp fluctuates then your looking at possible sensor failure, although a different digit will show up when you are pressing the top two buttons.
Hope this helps.July 5, 2007 at 11:16 am #219656RABC

Thanks. Once it is defrosted, I will be able to tell more. Is the fan accessed from inside the fridge ??

Hi
It’ll require the evaperator cover not the fan motor.
Available in the shop section

Having defrosted the fridge, when I start it up, the fan is going fine. Would this suggest that it is just the defrost heater that is not working, and the fan just froze up ?? Then I would not need tochange the evaporation cover

Fault will be back. Change evaporator cover first as R600A suggests.

The evap cover is easy enough to identify, and as I have ordered a defrost heater as well – is it easy to spot ?? I assume it will be behind the evap cover ?

Everything has arrived. Is the assembly a complete evaporator and heater ? Do I need to do any copper jointing ?? Also, the diagram with the evap cover is very small, and it is not very clear where the clip goes

Thanks for the help guys. I have changed the evap cover, and it all appears ok (that clip is a bugger to fit). As I have not (yet) changed th thermal fuse, sensor, or defrost heater- how long before it will show up that I should have ? Or will I have to wait months for it to ice up. Is thee any way I can tell if a defost cycle has happened ??
Superb Forum !!!!!
