ParticipantHope someone can help,
My dishwasher stopped working recently, the fault code was not listed in the manual so emailed Indesit to be told:
‘The error with the prewash light flashing indicates that water has overflowed into the base tray and has triggered a switch that will turn the pump on to drain and stops any more water coming into the machine.’This was the case so I emptied it and tried to use it – no joy. Tried pressing the cycle reset button with no success.
Emailed Indesit again to be told I need to call an engineer. Any chance there is a sequence of button presses I can use to reset and try before I call an engineer out?
Cheers

There is no “reset code” for this appliance.
Assuming that the undertray is now fully drained and that the polystyrene float is sat on the tray, the flood protection switch should be reset and allow the machine to programme. However, all too often the electronics let go – big weak spot on these machines.
Are you getting any lights lit on the panel (apart from power)?

Cheers penguin45.
The undertray is fully drained, the polystyrene float is sat on the tray (assuming I am looking at the right thing, in the center at the front. It was kind of stuck, not sure if this was as a result of the water or if that’s how it’ supposed to be.
The only LED that is on (apart from the power LED) is the first one on the left.

it’s on constant however it does not come on until you press the start button to initiate a programme.

if its on constant then sounds like its stuck in a prog, have you held the programme button down for 10 seconds? (if the machine has a beeper it will beep long then 3 short beeps when reset)

held the button in for 10 seconds until it resets. Then press the start button again to start a cycle but the first led stays on constant and no wash..

It still thinks that there is water in the base……. If the float is sitting on a load of soapy deposits, it can raise ot enough to work the switch. You need to re-check. If it absolutely will not reset, you may well have a computer problem. It is the well documented weak spot on these machines.

possibly a door lock problem too?, it there is still water in the base the light should be flashing to show a fault

Checked the float switch, moved it up and down and I can hear it click – so guess the mechanism itself works.
The base is clear of water. Tried different programmes, none work. Depending on the selected programme depends on which LED comes on.
