ParticipantMy Zanussi DCE5655 has recently started playing up a bit. When I run a program, it is taking much longer than it is supposed to. For instance, the economy program is supposed to last 30mins, but is now taking nearly two hours.
The dishes seem clean enough, but the water isn’t very warm. Does this sound like a problem with the heater? It is only connected to cold water.
Thanks for any help/advice!

I think that this was the definitive discussion on the subject:
http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … ussi+relay“Search” is a wonderful thing 😀 .
Power off, before sticking fingers in…….

Hi.
I have a similar problem. I have read the above linked thread and will now empart all that I have done/found/know.
Firstly this is the second time I have had this problem. First time was within the extended warranty and an engineer came out and replaced the heater unit (well I think thats what it was, was a little while ago now).
Now even my extended warranty is no longer.
I know it is not heating because the wax seal on my bottle of dishwasher cleaner has not been affected. Also, as noted above, the cycle time is extremely long.
I haven’t got round to putting a metre across the heater yet, but I have taken the door apart to look at the pcb.
I cannot see any signs of dodgy connections. Any thoughts?
Also – ever since we had the first heater problem (and possibly before it) the salt light is and has been permanently on. (we had the latch replaced at the same time as the heater too, not really relevant but I thought I’d mention it).
Lastly, does anyone know where I can get my hands on the cylindrical bit of white plastic that slots into the metal in the base of the interior. It has a kind of conical centre and mesh sides and I presume is some sort of filtre.July 24, 2008 at 11:32 pm #219977Penguin45

Pic 2 – look where it says 12, then look right. That is a burnt out solder joint. Use a fine file to clean the leg of the relay and re-solder; preferably laying in a reinforcing wire around the pin and led to the next solder point.
The filter is p/no 1504448-81/0 – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you one promptly.

Is it the little blob directly right or the larger blob slightly down a bit

Having blown up the piccie and put my specs on, the solder joints do appear to be fine. So, either the relay itself is at fault, or the driver circuits to it (over my head….); or the heater. Should give you a reading between 20-30 ohms when split from the circuit.
Stay safe, power off.

Hi.
sorry for the delay in getting back. yes, we have been doing the washing up by hand all this time.
Anyway, I finally took the DW apart today.
I believe the heater is the silver tube 1/2 way down the r/h side of the following picture, just above what looks like the motor/pump.
There are 3 wires running into this unit, 2 at 1 end and 1 at the other. The 1 on its own appears to be earth, and running my meter between earth and either of the other wires gives no reading. However, running between what I believe to be live and neutral I get a reading of 50.5ohms (if I am reading my meter correctly, see following pic.

ParticipantHi, i have exactly the same problem, i favour zanussi normally but its been my worst ever dishwasher and looking back i think it started going downhill from new. DCE 5655. Pcb appears fine, i have same reading across the 2 terminals on the heater, well, 51.2. its basically continuity which i think is correct hence heater body wires being thick and solid to take the generated heat from being in a joined circuit (if you know what i mean) I think thats right anyway. Does your heater have same continuity across the 2 terminals ? HELP Please Anyone
