Hi Handwash,
The biggest single killer of integrated refrigeration is ventilation. Installers refuse to read and adhere to the installation instructions, we go out and tell the owner that that’s what the problem is and, bingo, instant fight on our hands. 😉
The next we see all the time is the doors not aligned correctly.
Sadly, these are very, very common and why so many people have problems with a lot of integrated refrigeration.
Don’t get me wrong, some of these machines, especially the Chinese ones, do give a fair amount of trouble, but a lot of it is down purely to mis-installation on integrated fridges, freezers and fridge freezers and this skews the figures big time on failure rates.

Thanks Kwatt from your reply and that of others I have just noticed that there is no ventilation at the base of F/F unit(kick base) 😳 😳 ,suprise suprise wonderful joiner who fitted kitchen didn’t think to put one in place, looked up in loft from bits and pieces he left and there is exactly ventilation part you are talking about.1st job I do tomorrow.
Have checked the doors as best I could and am confident that they were closing over completely, although I remember a few choice words when they were working on that area of the kitchen 😯 😯 .
All in all F/F has been off for 24 hrs 24 to go will leave it out of unit for a week or so after I switch it back on and see how things go.
Once again thanks to all for taking the time to respond,it is much appreciated 🙂 🙂 🙂July 7, 2007 at 2:54 pm #220182kwatt

It should just need a few hours to cool off before restarting it TBH, if it hasn’t killed the compressor which is, I’m afraid, often the result of inadequate ventilation. 🙁
If it doesn’t restart after a few hours it is highly unlikely that it will.
