it is a white knight BG447 GAS tumble dryer.

after about 5 minutes of having the dryer on with a normal load in the dryer gives off a burning smell. its a very obvious smell that is quite strong.

last night i noticed that the extractor pipe was squashed round the back of it….i pulled the machine forward to free the pipe and put the dryer on again….the same thing happened

was just wondering what can be causing the burning smell…its quite worrying as it is gas operated!

    please help!

    Hi Anil,

There’s not so many of us that ever see these things since our “chums” at CORGI changed the rules and now they and the ACS mob charge us plenty to get accredited for a product that we rarely, if ever see.

It’s possible, if the vent hose was crushed, that it’s a build up of fluff/ooze inside the dryer that’s burning but I personally haven’t seen one of these things in over a decade. I hated the things, horrible to work on. 😉

The only thing I can suggest is to get in touch with White Knight and get it looked at but it likely won’t be cheap as it is a specialised area.

i was thinking that it may be the fluff in the dryer….would i have to get white knight to sort it out or can i use a corgi registered engineer to come and see if they can do anything?

    cheers for the advice tho

The problem is in actually finding a CORGI engineer that has the module for gas dryers, they’re as rare as hen’s teeth since CORGI and ACS changed the rules about seven years ago.

But you will have to make sure that the gas is sound in any event as you don’t want to risk it with gas, way too dangerous.
