wm about 2years old. visited today. customer says he uses it about once a week. problem….as soon as you plug it in it starts…you don’t need to press the on/off button it just starts. pressing the pause button doesn’t stop it. when it starts it fill for about one minute then the drain pump comes in and the water keeps coming in and of course it is being pumped out straight away as if it is in anti flood mode. no leaks apparent. checked motor brushes both ok, test meter on heater…ok. visual on board ( 215008125.01 serial no. 505111189 dated 2005 ) looked ok. no burnt edge connectors, no broken tracks. any ideas?

Blown triac on PCB…….. fills to flood protect, keeps right on filling…….. whilst it pumps……….

    Fix it or new PCB.

    thanx alan j
when you load a profit margin to take the module to say £70.00 which is not unusual to cover original cost, return postage to EMW, VAT and then add labour charge, £55.00 ( 2 visits) then customer compares price he paid for inds..t new and the price now on the internet the job/fix is a close run thing. customer spends another £80 – £100 and he has a new w/m to replace the one he bought cheap and hasn’t been happy with the wash results.
    his choice…
