The washing machine is pluged in but not switched on..but I am picking up static shock, when working on wash machine only when hands are wet, customer also tells me me she feels it when empting drum,(wet clothers) I have used a socket tester that tells me the earth is ok at socket, I have checked earth link from 13 plug to machine casing ok.
If the machine is holding static, should this be realeased via earthing in house wiring. ie earth fault in house.!!! Am I correct.
not sure what to advise customer..any advice please.

    Re: Static shock

I had this once before and it was caused by there being no earth bonding on the water pipes of the house.

Bonded the pipes and the static disappeared.

Or the customer could be generating the static if flooring is nylon based and they are then discharging themselves when they touch the machine ❓

Cheers for your advice gents, sadly I do not own a earth loop tester as they are expensive, I gather some of you must own these.
    Cheers John.

Cheaper than an inquest 😳 , there are some good ones on Eb*y. If you get one have it calibrated and checked as with the rest of your test gear 😉 and find out how to use it safely 😉
