ParticipantHi
I have a Fisher & Paykel GW609NZ. When you switch it on and start a cycle it runs for 2 seconds, stops, and runs for 2 seconds again. After about 30 seconds it starts beeping and shows error 50 (00011010). So I bought a new set of cold and hot valves from F&P and installed them. This made no difference.
The error codes as displayed in the diagnostic menu are
0000 – 0000 0000
0001 – 0000 0101 / 0000 0110
0010 – 0000 0001 / 0000 0000
0011 – 0011 0010
0100 – 0000 0010
0101 – 1011 1011
0110 – 0000 0111
0111 – 0000 0001
1000 – 0000 1101
1001 – 1011 1011
1010 – 0000 0111
1011 – 1111 1111
1100 – 0000 0101 / 0000 0110
1101 – 0001 0001
1110 – 0001 1011
1111 – 0010 1010I have been scouring the internet for nearly a week now and most other people with an error 50 solved their problem with the replacement of the valve.
One more thing, as the valves are labeled as 24V i thought I’d check to see what the voltage coming out of the control board was, and I measured a max of 12V, but usually hovering around 8V.July 12, 2007 at 7:25 pm #220706Penguin45

New valve unlikely to be faulty. Common problem is the wiring itself – check harness from Controller to valves for continuity, check for oxidisation at board end. Failing that, it’ll be a supply problem from the board itself.

It wasn’t the wiring. I checked the resistance in the valves, unsoldered the cables checked the resistance through the cables, resoldered and checked again. Every time getting 66Ohms, so it must be the board. I guess I’ll have to shell out $165 for a new board.
Thanks for your prompt reply Penguin45

I have the same problem but with a different model.
Model: mw059au Fisher and Paykel Smart Drive 5.5
Error code: 50 // 00110010I have tested the resistance on the valves 63.5 (cold) and 63.7 (hot). The power supplied to the cold valve when running seems to jump around from 0V to 7ishV, whilst the cold seems to sit at 7V to 8V.
I assume a faulty board, but was hoping for more information on the error and what components tend to fail. I would rather a $0.20 component to a $165 board that may or may not work.
Thanks.
