Nope I doubt that they are all bad.
I did ask for Samsung’s press department to supply info on the new one by email and, if at all possible, one to put on test. They haven’t even bothered to answer the enquiry.

Nice to see someone with a good word for Samsung – perhaps if our readers considered that we only see/talk about the 3{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that develop a fault and not the 97{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that work without problem there would be a more balanced viewpoint.

Well I have a fault on my Samsung – but i is nearly 3 years old, and its the first time I have ever had a fridge with a fault. So I’m not complaining. With the help of this Forum, I should be able to sort out my fault (evap cover on the) way

Participantthats right, its about support
it isnt about making things look worse than they are
this post was created to try and help realise that it aint all bad, that things to break down, and thats what we’re here forwe (the engineers) have been dragged into many an argument over theses machines, when all we’re trying to do is help the consumer
some light relief really!

Thing about it is Helo I can kinda see the customer’s point here.
I mean we’re on what, the third incarnation of the rear panel/evaporator cover from Samsung? Now, to me, if it’s been changed (you don’t want to say “modified” ;)) three times then there’s something not right IMO. It was obviously not right the first time, the second and, by many reports the third either. The original problem still exists, it over-freezes.
But in any event, if there’s no problem with it then why was there a call to “change” it?
Now we have a situation where the “cure” is a full on repair that costs the best part of £200, that evaporator cover for them we sell here for £82 and we’re cheap!
To my mind that’s a bit unfair on the people that bought the product in all good faith, the least Samsung could do is either subsidise the repair or something to alleviate the burden on their customer.
Of course the other side of the coin is that the Samsung is also a cut price machine, just like LG which has (allegedly) problems of it’s own and as with most things, in the end, you get what you pay for to a large extent. I always ask that people look carefully at the pricing of things, sure there’s overpriced stuff out there and when we talk about US styled refrigeration there’s the Maytag disguised as a Smeg for example where you pay for the Smeg styling bits and the name. But any of the decent machines are considerably more expensive than the Samsungs and LGs, you have to wonder why that is.
Of course we know it’s because they’re built better and don’t have these issues, but people looking on the internet for the cheapest Yankee fridge freezer don’t know that, they just see the Korean stuff as being a bargain.
Turns out that when this happens, it sure ain’t a bargain.

There again kenneth..
Take GE american fridge freezers. approx £2500 upwards
I have in the past 2 months replaced approx 10 main PCB’s.
First sign is that the water stops working tjen the ice then the whole appliance shuts down suddenly and is dead.
I have mentioned it but this isnt a concern to them.
There again there is the situation with the Maytag?admiral defrost heater failures..no problem there either £2000 upwards.

I never said the rest were perfect. 😉
GE’s start at about £1400 and, they can be a pain to work on but I’ve not had repeat visits for the same faults on any, there again we don’t see many.
Maytag, I don’t know of any issues with the defrost heaters. 😕

If we’re having a what never goes wrong thread I nominate my Whirlpool ARG498 (proper) American side by side fridge freezer.
Plugged it in in 1998 and haven’t even had to change a light bulb.
But then again they don’t make them like that any more do they 😈 😈Steve
