ParticipantWe have just moved into a new house and inherited a Diplomat Range 850 cooker. There seems to be a couple problems with it :
1. The top oven is always warm even when the switch is off.
2. The griddle is not working. I was wondering if this was something to do with the cut-off switch but the red light also fails to come on.
Just wondering if anyone else has had these problems and managed to fix them before I call someone out.
Thanks.

Hi Damonsbeads,
To set the clock you press the second button (that looks like a cooking pot) and the third button (a pot with a line through it) simultaneously, and keep them depressed. Then use the plus and minus buttons to set the time of day. The A symbol should go off and the cookpot symbol comes on.
Hope this helps….

This thread was hijacked, but if anyone can answer OP’s 2007 question there are quite a few people with the same problem who would like to know the answer.
Curiously, my stove has exactly the same combination fault – upper oven on all the time, griddle not working.

I had a similar problem with the top oven and i tried to fix it myself. I checked the switch at first but it was working properly. I couldn’t find the issue so i called an electrician. The guy said that indeed, the switch was the problem as it didn’t close cut the circuit well enough and a small amount of electricity was actually reaching the heaters. He changed the switch and the oven works fine now.
if i were you I would call a professional as there is a risk of fire in that case and when you add the grease inside the oven, this could cause some really bad problems. -
