From the post the other day now that I have a little bit more time, we have to set out the stall IMO.

Now all this is my opinion on issues that we all have, not a “do this” post.

    WEEE

If you sell OR recondition any appliances this affects you which affects a huge number of the repairers. I think that we use the resources that we have and John is steeped in this stuff, his understanding of it exceeds mine by a fair ways although I do “get it”. But the point is John’s done one hell of a lot of work on this, there’s absolutely no point re-doing it.

The other thing about that is that the line of communication is well open to the DTI, EA and directly to Malcolm Wickes, the MP dude running the show.

John is obviously fighting this for everyone from an ISE standpoint, but we’ve spoken about it and in the end we’d open it up for the good and benefit of everyone. We’re like that. 😉

    Technical Information

I have a strategy there to get some results I hope. If nothing else what I propose to do will stir up a bl00dy hornet’s nest.

However I’d far rather explain that at the meeting in September when the association is officially formed.

    CCAS

I will pursue this with the OFT this week but this will probably require a thread in its own right as it will be ongoing for at least 12-18 months.

What I need is any other issues that we want to have an opinion on and that bit is over to you guys…

Hit the nail on the head there Ken.

for any professional person working on a gas appliance to be registered with a gas safety scheme to access that the person was competent to do so.

    Should that be assess?

    Very eoloquently put Ken.

You didn’t even mention LPG, nor the specific literature that we are expected to buy at extortionate prices. Add to that the techs have to re-sit every 5 years; another expense, in my case £1,550 per engineer this year for the re-assessment including the LPG.

Then for all that, what do we get back, very little indeed.

    Re: We Have Issues!

Yeah I thought about the LPG thing but that’s really an issue within the issue and I wanted to keep it short and interesting as I could.

On the re-sits there should be in place the ability to simply sit a re-assessment course which is far shorter. I am trying to find out more immediately as both the old man and Robert are due now.
