ParticipantModel AEG OKO_ARCTIS 2674-6GS (abt. 4 yrs old) has been working brilliantly then suddenly stopped with red light on control panel flashing & buzzer sounding. Please advise on checks to make. There is no vibration felt on the compressor.
Any leads would give me confidence to repair or replace. Many thanks for any ideas,

Cant find this pnc on my disc so try this first, switch the appliance off. Leave it for about an hour and then switch it back on. See if you can hear a hum and then a click. If the compressor starts up, see if you can hear the hiss of the gas going through the pipework. then report back on the forum.

Hi, Since leaving the message earlier today I must have read your thoughts. I switched the freezer off for about an hour then switched it on again. The compressor started up, I could hear something circulating and the black radiator on the back started to get warm. After what must be 10 hours the freezer is back into range and on -18C.
From the AEG website I put in the PNC Nr and downloaded their Instruction manual pdf – that is of passing interest.
I’d still like to know what the real problem is – as it could return at anytime. The only things I’ve done – apart from leaving it off for an hour are – vacuum clean and brush all around the back and made sure the gap to the back wall is a few inches rather than perhaps too close.
Your thoughts and knowledge are very welcome.

Hi,
As I type the freezer is remains ok. But I’m checking it a few times a day in case it decides to go off the rails again. I like the thought that perhaps the de-frost cycle is up the spout.I’ll be in touch again if the problem returns for advice.
Many thanks for thoughts so far,
Laurie

Since the above problem last July the Freezer has performed perfectly. Then over this weekend it decided to cut off working again and the freezer just warmed to room temperature – I’d been away overnight – just as things go wrong!
Can anyone please suggest some things to test or change to prevent the motor just turning itself off and the buzzer sounding.
I followed the advice last year of swithing it off at the mains then switching it on again and this works in that the motor starts and freezing begins from scratch.
I’m used to using a meter if that helps to check voltages etc.
Many regards,

Hi
As it has worked for the past nearly a year is there any possibility that you have not fully closed the door even for a few hours ?.
switching it off then back on would sometimes cause the unit to perform a defrost.

Hi Bryan,
Thanks for your thoughts. So far so good in that the freezer appears to have got back into full freezing mode. I need to watch the door and keep checking it a few times a day to see all stays well.

It’s started playing up again. Out the blue the freezer stops feezing and buzzer sounds. This happens about every 2 days at the moment.
An earlier suggestion was that the ‘defrost’ is faulty – is there a method for testing this?
I don’t mind changing the thermister if that is suggested but to change the control panel seems very expensive unless it is that for sure or can be returned if it proves not to be faulty.
Your thoughts and ideas are very welcome. If need be we will just have to get a new feezer.
Best regards,
Laurie -
