Does anyone know if there is a better filter to fit the outlet pump on the above machine.
As i am now about to purchase the second replacement pump unit (BS51120 – Bosch & Siemens Washing Machine & Washer Dryer Pump) as a coin has broken the fan off.
I know other makes and models have some sort of mesh filter, to prevent bits getting to the fan blades.
Please help as this is getting expensive and time consumming, having to replace the pump.

    Thanks

Even in machines with coin traps it is not uncommon for other items to get past and into the pump causing damage. It really is worth taking the few extra seconds to check all pockets etc. Prevention is better than cure.

The filter type you mention is very prone to blockages from lint needing constant messy cleaning out as well.

Damage to the pump impellor is very minor indeed when compared to the damage that coins etc can do to the inner & outer drum, and no filter will stop that.

There is no alternative pump filter for your machine BTW.

    Thanks for the reply.
I’ll just have to keep sending the family subliminal messages to check all pockets before washing.

    Thanks

Giving them the bill for the repair might help to concentrate minds. I have to say though that the final responsibility lies with the person who loads the machine.
