ParticipantHi fridge freezer problems.
As of this morning the fridge is completely quiet and the compressor looks relatively new (this appliance is a reconditioned).
I checked the fuse. OK
The bulb had blown quite dramatically, scorching the plastic cover. Of course, this may have already been like this, but the bulb was nice and black.I replaced the bulb and the light works now, so I assume power isn’t the issue. I also emptied the defrost tray on the compressor.
So, questions!
This model is an auto defrost model, so is it possible that the fridge is just defrosting, hence the silent compressor, and the bulb going is just a coincidence? Or is something more sinister (and expensive) going on?
I should add, prior to this, since we got it (2 months ago) it’s always been quite a noisy thing.
I also tried to call the service centre in the manual, but they’ve ceased trading in 2006.
Hope you can help

If the appliance is still under guarantee a call to Coolzone service on 08702 413029 should do the trick.

Thanks Don,
But I’ve actually fixed it!
It came to my attention that the bulb was very hot. So I thought I’d see if it was actually turning off by flicking my mobile into movie mode, sticking it next to the butter and closing the door.
Lo and behold it didn’t get dark. It seemed the the door switch was faulty and needed to be pushed in a lot further that the small catch on the door could make.
So I turned everything off, got to the part that triggered the light on and off, re-seated everything correctly and put everything back in place.
Turned on the power and voila. Compressor kicks in.
I have no idea why this would be related though. Still, ignorance is bliss.
