ParticipantGoing entirely on the error codes for this machine (fo3) I ordered a themistor for my machine,
According to the Indesit spares section webpage of UK Whitegoods I needed part no 083915 which I ordered.
As I didn’t know where the part fitted I thought I would wait for the new part to arrive so that I could locate the old one and renew it.
I cannot for the life of me find where this part fits, I did ring UK Whitegoods parts to double check that this was the correct part for my machine which I was assured it was.
Can someone please advise where this part is located (and how I remove the old one and replace with the new one if there is some complicated procedure involved which is not obvious at first glance).
Many thanks hope someone will helpJuly 25, 2007 at 2:03 pm #222507Martin

It fits into the heater boss at the back of the drum. The heater compression plate needs to be loosed in order to extract the old thermistor. (Great care reqd.) 😕
It is more usual to first test (with a multimeter) the old unit to be sure it is at fault though? Often bad connections from it and to the module can cause the F03 error as indeed also a break in the wires give the same error. So it’s prudent to take that route first before simply sticking a new thermistor in and switching on to see what happens? :rolls:

Thanks for the very rapid reply to my post Martin.
I am sorry to be so stupid but is the heater compression plate the metal strip which is approximately 7cm x 2cm and has a nut in the centre?
Perhaps I am thinking too much but I am expecting two thin wires to go to the thermistor but I can only see two thick wires going to this plate which I think are the connections to the heater.
Above the metal strip is a circular device about 4cm diameter which has a rubber surround to it and also two thin wires connected to it. If this is the compression plate does it pull out or screw out and does the rubber have to be pushed to one side.
Thanks again in anticipation

JimThat would be the thermistor 😉
Can be removed by gently prising at it’s edge with a flat-blade driver (careful not to damage the seal). The new one can be fitted by gently prising the seal edge back over it…a little liquid soap on the seal helps.
But….as martin said much better to check it with a meter, and the associated wiring first. If you have a meter take a resistance reading between the two connectors on it and let us know what it is?
Fully isolate (plug out) before doing anything :zap:

Thanks for your reply Clive.
I have measured the resistance between the terminals on the thermistor in the machine and it is 24.4 K.ohm.
On the new one the resistance is 18.6 k.ohm.
So does this mean that the thermistor is ok or not?
If so what should I try next.
Thanks again

I would say your thermistor is fine then and no need to replace it. Therefore you need to check that the wires from the module connector block to the thermistor register a similar resistance reading. If they do, that confirms all is well at least with the thermistor and it’s wiring. The F03 fault then telling us the main module is the likely culprit or that the connector block connection to it is dodgy? 😕

Martin, I have been looking for exactly this thread since I have the same problem as the original poster.
My new Thermistor is the 083915 from uk whitegoods but looks nothing like the one from the back of the drum (I have just pulled it out and it is a coin sized plastic disc with spade connections on the outside – BTW about 68K when I checked it). Mine is a long can about 8 x 30 mm and is still in the packet my invoice is also for 1 x C00083915 – Indesit Washing Machine Thermistor.
Hope you can help me, JD

Two different ntc’s fitted to these, the later one that slots into the heater plate (C0083915) and the earlier (C0053573) disc type that is located in the rubber grommet in the backplate, not interchangable.

Thank you for that. I ordered the part without even looking to see where it was, not knowing about the different types. Serves me right then. 🙂
I’ll see if ukwhitegoods will change it for me.
Cheers, JD

I have the same problem and have removed the thermistor (C0053573) I have tested it with my multimeter and it gave me a reading of 5.37 M.omh is this with in the norm ot will it need replacing?

The resistance of the NTC should be approx 20k?@20C.
