ParticipantA couple of weeks ago I made my first post here (http://www.ukwhitegoods.co.uk/modules.p … 114#142114) regarding a fridge freezer problem.
To cut a long story short the compressor was knackered, but about 1 week after repair and perfect operation I now have a new (possibly connected) problem.
* Fridge works fine (+3) but freezer chills only a little (+10-20). Certainly does not freeze. Both evaporator fans are working. Compressor runs continuously.
* Diagnostic test shows no “bars” in display at all. No useful information.
* On inspection the Freezer side evaporator is a little frosty but certainly not as cold as it needs to be.
* Freezer side defrost sensor shows about 7k ohms immediately you open the freezer up to access it. About 5k ohms at room temperature. Thermal fuse 0 ohms. Defrost heater circuit: 1.3 ohms (bottom “leg”); 0.24 ohms (top left “leg”).
Any ideas?
My instinct is that changing the freezer sensors or even the defrost heater will no difference. This “feels” like an electronic issue to me.
The local engineer I found is on holiday for another week so any d-i-y suggestions appreciated.

Been a numpty I think. For defrost resistance measurements read k ohms.

Before you can go any further you will need to get someone to check that the original repair (to the compressor) has not sprung a leak. It may be better in the long run if you get the original engineer back before you start diy, I appreciate that this will cause a delay but at least you will not put yourself in the position of causing friction with the fridgeman.

Actually my toughts as well. The system had depressurized already (though it took nearly 4 years). He could find no leak but acknowledged that might not be the end of the matter.
Would the symptoms of freezer not freezing, but fridge still working be consistent with depressurization? In this event how the heck would you locate a leak?
The machine has never frosted up. I’ve had a good shufti at both evaporators and all seems well. No oil or anything.
