    Hi

    Our 5 year old fridge is on permanently. Turning the interior knob from 1-5 makes no difference, 0 switches it permanently off. There is an inch thick build up of ice on the top third of the back wall. There sounds like a fan operating at the bottom – no other sounds. I felt around the bottom left hand side where there are some steel coils – these are at room temperature. I also managed to feel around the left hand side back of the fridge (outside back wall of fridge). This too was at room temperature.
    The interior light doesent work but I suspect thats just a blown bulb.

    Can I fix it? Can an engineer fix it? Do I buy a new fridge?

    I would suggest you are either short of refrigerant or the motor is duff. Engineer time
