ParticipantWife put a wash in this morning – funny noise. When the cycle had finished found one of her handwash items in there – one of the wires from bra has come out and is clearly stuck somewhere behind the drum – can hear a scratchy sound when rotate it!! How easy is it to access the area around this? Any suggetions?!

Participantid feel round the holes in the inner drum first, sometimes, especially on a bosch machine, the wire sticks through and you can pull it out..
if not, you can try taking the heater out (power off) some are at the front some are at the back depending on model numberJuly 31, 2007 at 11:53 am #222976Martin

Crikey, I wouldn’t recommend removing the heater (very dodgy) 😕
Let us know the model number as there are safer, simpler options. 😉

I think its wff 2001 – I’ve had a feel around for the wire but no sign.

I usually spend a few minutes gently coaxing bra-wires with a couple of thin screwdrivers to get one end to poke through the drum…..as soon as it does grab with pliers and pull like fury 😆 This is successful maybe 2 times out of five so worth a go.
If that fails….front off and drop the sump hose to get access 😉

hi i didnt even realise my bra had gone in the wash, as i usually do them by hand,,,,,,,, and i was putting it away and noticed a wire missing,,,,,,, so im scrabbling round the drum,, can see anything, cant hear anything,,,,,,,, but on a later wash i heard a clatter on the final spin,,,,,,,,, so i dont leave the machine on when im out,, and im stood infront of the thing while its spinning panicking,,,,, incase it blows up ro something,
now, its well under guarantee,,,, so im sure i read that if you call the enigneers out, and they find a wire,, you get charged as its not a manufacturing fault,,,,,,,,,
how do i find this wire myself if its not actually in the drum but somewhere between????? can it get out thru the coin catch thing ??

hellllllllllllpIf it’s a wff2001 then it will be under extended rather than the manufactures warranty.
Many of these insurance backed extended warranties also cover “accidental damage”.
I’ve removed many bra wires 😳 and billed the insurance/warranty.
Read the policy document and/or phone to ask if you are covered.September 10, 2007 at 8:25 pm #222982mrsogden

No, it won’t be covered by guarantee I’m affraid.
However, if you bought it from Currys and took out the exrended warranty or whatever happens policy then you will be covered by their accidental damage as this runs from date of delivery.

Listen carefully, we say this only once……..
If it is out of warranty, your cheapest option is to ask your friendly local retailer to send their repair people round to sort it. Their call out will be less than BSH.
Or, you pay BSH to do it for you – bit more dosh, guaranteed result.
Or, get the screwdrivers out and sort it – there ar some tips in the thread.
Without being rude about it, this is a self-inflicted fault. In future, turn a pillowcase inside out, drop the bras in there and fold the flap over. They will wash just as well and the wires won’t escape.
Of course, you could just shut the door and ignore it. It’s probably trapped under the heating element, so the trailling bent end is dragging against the drum. It will gradually break up – it may also rip the drum to shreds.
No point in grumbling – pony up and get it sorted.

like ive said,,, if you hand turn the drum you cant hear a thing, it washes with out the noise, youd expect, its only when its on its mega spin that it soulds like something is being flung about?? like a coin does!…i used to work for hotpint on the washer section so youd think i could remember how to get in there!!!

ParticipantI take it that you’ve removed the drain pump cover and checked that there’s nothing in the pump ?
