Participantgoing to do a door seal on the above, in the past i have hauled the tub out complete, removed balance weight changed seal and re assembled…my mate bill says he has changed the seal through the door..says its tricky but can be done..i am willing to try this method but concerned about the very limited space beteen the weight and the door seal an trying to refit the spring retainer…any of you tried bills method and to what success??

ParticipantWhen I used to repair these years ago i used to put and 2 old mfi fridge feet into the gap between the weight and drum this gave you extra hands that makes it very easy to put the spring on.

or you can cut short pieces of old fill hose and use them to wedge in the gap

I use a couple of “rubbery plastic” wine bottle stoppers that I keep in the tool box for all sorts of jobs, stuffing in the end of an outlet hose for example.

I used to struggle like mad on these, but one method in the thread above is an absolute winner.
Loads of washing up liquid on the seal and lift the spring up from the bottom. Takes seconds and goes straight on without need for any wedges.Tony C

i used to struggle on these but for about 8 euro i solved my problem.
get the door seal on is the easy bit .then sit spring on from top and hold it in place with a soft spring clamp from aldi ,its like a third hand now in and out in about 15 min.August 7, 2007 at 9:54 pm #223678richardable

I use a piece of 2 x 1 about 18 inches long. Once door seal is on, wedge the wood into the left hand side of the door aperture, and against the door seal pushing the drum over to the right. Spring has to be over the bit of wood first. Holding the wood with your leg you can ease the spring around. Door has to come off to do this, 10 mins and its done.
