I have a 2 year old Hotpoint Ultima SDW80 dishwasher. The machine finished a cycle – when I came to it the machine was ‘unresponsive’. None of the buttons produced the expected result – could not change programme, could not turn off, could not reset etc – and in the end I decided to cycle power on the unit to see if it would reset itself.

It powered back on and the display was blank for a few moments, then it displayed a flashing ‘OFF’ on the LCD. None of the buttons worked again and in the end the display changed to show ” – – – – – ” (this happens even if I don’t press anything).

No error code is shown at any stage. I’ve cleaned out the filter and retried, I’ve pressed various buttons together and held them down in various different ways with no effect. Can’t see anything similar on the forum anywhere so I thought I would see if anyone had any ideas.

I fear the electronic gremlins have come to vist and aren’t going to go away unless I have wallet surgery!

    Thanks

The control PCB on this 100{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} Indesit machine is known to be unreliable, sadly that is par for most Indesit electronics these days. The control PCB is inexpensive but the display card is well over £80.00. You are covered by your five year parts guarantee but will have to pay the Indesit Company Ltd’s £90.00 labour charge.

It could just be a poor connection between the control PCB and the display card.

Thanks for that mate – I took a look at the connections just to see if there was anything obvious. Nothing.

I decided to take the hit on the Indesit labour charge and get an engineer to visit – booked for Friday 17th August.

Some areas are obviously having problems, I referred a customer to Hotpoint yesterday and she was promised a service call today.

Just had the customer service team on the phone and they have moved the appointment forwards to this coming Monday morning – I’m in York by the way.

    I’ll post the outcome.

    Thanks

Re: Hotpoint Ultima SDW80 – Unresponsive Controls

The engineer came out – new parts required (second visit scheduled).

On the second visit the engineer was here 11 minutes and fitted both parts – dishwasher works perfectly once more.

    The parts were:

    TIMER BIT 100 ROHS (C00143213) £20.65
    DISPLAY CARD LCD 45C (C00143238) £72.00

I’m £90 lighter for their callout but at least it works (and is guaranteed).

Thanks to all for the assistance
