    Hi.
After reading many posts I’ve come to the conclusion that my washing machine needs new brushes.
How do you access the motor? I’ve read somewhere that the machine needs to be turned upside down! Seems a little unsafe.

    Cheers

The motor is bolted to the bottom of the drum and needs to be removed to check the brushes. Please don’t turn it upside down though!

If you need a local engineer to sort it for you then do please click on the link below. 🙂

Would you care to share the source of this piece of nonsensical information? :rolls:

😯 , He even gives you a good reason why you should never do this with a washing machine,

‘Reassembly is simple but make sure you do not reconnect the mains supply if any water has been spilled into the top of the machine… leave it for a day or so to dry out (I’ve never had such a problem but I have to say this!!).’

A prize plonker and no mistake, :rolls: 👿

POWER OFF,remove back panel, unplug motor block wiring and earth, you will need a 13mm spanner to remove motor fixing bolts then when you have motor on work surface change brushes.. refit motor.

Plastic tub machine, Richard – pair of 10mm headed screws at the back retain the motor, some leverage required from underneath usually to free the motor from its lugs.

    Power off, of course.

    Thanks all.
Replaced the brushes last night. I lay the machine on the front surface after completely draining it. Running well now although when first powered up and set to spin it didn’t move and made some crackling noise. I figured that the brushes were not “bed in”, so I gave the drum a careful bump start and off it went.
