ParticipantHi all,
New to the forum, and have tried searching for past posts with no luck.
Basically my dishwasher threw up the F4 fault one night, and the water temperature refuses to raise. Based on the manual downloaded from fp’s website F4 fault equates to :
No increase in water
temperature during
wash cycle. —>
Faulty element.
Electronics controller
faulty.
Faulty temperature
sensor.I’m quite keen to try DIY on this problem if I can.
What do the experts think, and where should I start first? There is also a diagnostic test that can be run (I heard) unfortunately I am unable to find the way to run it.
TIA!!!

You won’t need the diagnostics or test cyclesif you have the code.
If you wish to follow this up, you will need a test meter. Split heater from circuit and test for continuity – a reading of 20-40 ohms is generally acceptable. There is usually a safety thermostat in-line with the heater, this should read normally closed or damn near zero ohms. No reading indicates that it has tripped. European dishwashers often suffer wiring breakages at the pivot point of the door – I have no idea if this is a problem with the F+P ones. Finally, the heater will be switched by a relay on the computer board. Dry or burnt solder joints can be a problem.
Power off, of course………

ParticipantThanks for the reply.
Since this is my first time taking apart a dishwasher, I assume (from reading in the internet) that the thermostat is somewhere near the heating element?
Sorry to ask such obvious questions 🙂

Yup, usually clipped to the base, or in a grommet through the floor of the machine.

Auto reset Thermostat (Is Overheat) Located From LHS Of The Tub Base
behind Kick panel Open 85C reset 50C
The Temp Sensor itself is Part of The MAIN PCB(Board)and Not Available as Spare Part
IE New PCB
IF Element Ok (Read 35 Ohm) & wiring checks Ok
more than Likely You Will Need PCB
Part # 521793P about $150 AUD -
