ParticipantBonjour,
Mumsie has a 3 Year old Bosch Logixx 1400 express
E-Nr WFR 2868GB /05
FD 8403 700054I had a search on here but couldn’t find anything that useful so thought i’d start a new post…
Been fine up until now but has just started making a rythmic knocking noise just as it starts to spin fast and again when it slows down (goes away at high RPM)
I’m currently running with the top and the back panel off and can see nothing loose, worn out and the appliance seems well balanced, problem occurs with any load size…
Drain pump nice and clean and she is fairly careful so I don’t think there is anything stuck inside but obviously can’t rule this out completly!
Noise is fairly load and you can feel it thru the chassis but it is very hard to pinpoint where it’s coming from – almost sounds like a hose clip is hitting the side if the machine but nothing out of place that i can see…
Wondered about the shock absorbers but both seem about the same as each other – hopefully someone on here can give me an idea of what to look for and any common faults on this chassis…?
Also – looking for a service manual for this, anyone got one in electronic form or know where I can download?
Many Thanks in advance!

Almost certainly the shock absorbers – they have been modified.
http://www.bshappliancecare.com has excellent exploded diagrams if you follow the links.

Ah… nice one, that was actually my first thought once I had the back off as the sound seemed to resonate from them but I wondered if it was comeing from elsewhere….
I printed those out earlier, how do i know I have the early shocks??
I don’t suppose the shocks are free from Bosch as they have revised them? if not is it best to get direct from Bosch or from someone on here or on the web etc?
Cheers for the reply!

Your shockers will be rectangular in section, with a white plastic slider. The new ones are a metal cylindrical construct, with a round metal slider.
P/no 448032, you’ll need two – spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk will get you some quickly and the profit helps to keep the site free for users.

Ok… sorry for the slow reply but only just got round to looking into this…
Noise is still there and quite load so really need to do something about it, I spoke to Bosch and altho they gave me the same part number as above for my model, they said it had not been superceded and as far as they were aware, there was not a known problem with these… They quoted me £102 delivered inc vat!!! – I was expecting them to cost about £15 each at the most!
I looked on the shop page on this site and can only find part number 443761 which is about the same price (maybe more after postage) – is this the modified part?
Also found a place online (e-spares i think) that will do part 448032 for £80 delivered but this is still too much really for a machine approaching 4 years old plus the fact we live in a hardwater area…
Can anyone get these parts cheaper or come up with a better fix – if they are the same part I already have surely they will wear out again in another 3 years….
Beginning to loose faith in Bosch tbh (been thru several dishwashers that have been uneconomical to repair and one fridge (all problems with controller boards!) – maybe get a Meile next time…
Any help or advice appreciated!

just a point penguin my shockers have failed on my BOSCH CLASSIXX and on inspection the ones fitted to mine are flimsy plastic slider ones .Yet on the parts list they look a lot more robust what is the story on these modifications i am going to write to BOSCH and ask whats going on when they want £100 for new ones on a 3 yearold model with little use

I find the shockers VERY reliable, I have only ever changed two sets 😯 .
And on both occasions it was the rubber bush that had given up not the shocker itself.
Usually I find that knocking noises tend to come from poor loading issues rather than a fault with the machine itself. Most peoples idea of a full load is often more like two full loads, or they are trying to wash a single bath mat :rolls: .

Hmmm – yeah the ones on mine are plastic and look like they need drilling so it does look like they have been improved as Penguin says but I have now spoken to 3 techies at Bosch who say the part is the same as I currently have fitted and no modifications have been made…?
Machine has always been well ballance and she is always careful not to overload – very annoying with it only being 3 years old as you say!
Interesting stuff about the rubber bush and that makes sense with the noise, is it replaceable?? maybe nylon could be used? is it the one at the top or bottom?

I think you’ll find it is the top coupling at the tub end causing the problem? 😕Trouble is that as the tub is a split (two halves) unit, the dampers are fitted when the tub is assembled. The replacement units however involve drilling away the old fixings and installing a ‘nut & bolt’ alternative. Very difficult procedure requiring precise drilling with little room for error. 🙁
My recommendation is to put up with the intermittent noise, as that is all it is, and no harm is to become from its perpetuation. 😉
As you have already observed, the knocking noise is only apparent during the lesser (intermediary) spin speeds and disappears at the higher spin speeds. Therefore earplugs are a cheaper more effective solution I reckon. 😆

Yep as said it will be the spring rubbing on the chassis. There are some small plastic inserts available part no 552829. No drilling req.

Hmmm – cheers Holden, I was fairly sure the noise is coming from the bottom ie the shocks but it’s worth a try…
Just looked at the microfische and that part is 1p each from Bosch but it says ‘not fitted to this appliance’ – worth a try me thinks, will order some tomorrow!
