have bosch v454 model, but water pours from the front, from where you put powder in.Checked hose to drum incase powder had blocked it….is there supposed to be a seal on the very front of the powder box? Thanks in advance, Keith.

If the drum is completely full and overflowing through the dispenser then the pressure system is blocked. If it’s just dribbling out while the machine fills then it’s simply a case of cleaning.
It may be necessary to strip the dispenser box right out and unclip it apart…but this will give full access to the hose underneath that takes the water into the tub too.
If you’re in a hard water area the chalk may be so stubborn that a replacement dispenser is the easy answer 😉

Thanks for the reply.Have taken box off to look, but couldnt see a fault or blockage. The water goes in fast as usual, but after a few secs it pours out like a wee waterfall down the machine front. I thought there might be a seal at the front missing. Checked the main pipe into the drum but it seems ok too.

Can’t honestly remember if there’s a vent hose to the back of the dispenser on this one….if there is it will be blocked which means as the tub fills the air cannot escape, and the resulting pressure makes the water pour out at the front. Any vent hose will be a thin one (thickness of a pencil-ish) and run from the back of the dispenser to the vent box on the drain line behind.
You have checked the obvious though?….(machine levelled and not sloping to the front?)

there are 3 hoses to/from the back of the box, hot/cold and maybe the 3rd one is the vent hose?

Depends…if the cold valve is a double then no.
The vent hoses on Bosch’s are a smaller diameter than the fill hoses so it should be obvious if it’s there 😉

just looked, 3 hoses all the same, doble cold i think BUT there is a 4th hose, much thinner, which goes to the top of a kind of plastic “bottle”, which is then attached to the waste water outpipe. Is this the fella?

Don’t forget to check the port where it fits too…and if it is blocked then you’d be best to strip out the drain vent box and associated hoses as well…i think you might be staggered at the build up. Run a descaler afterwards.

checked this hose and it was clean and clear.Blew through from both ends and no blockage. What now?

If the breather is open, the machine leveled, the dispenser spotless and the dispenser hose completely open then the laws of physics dictate the water will run into the tub and not down the front 😉

With the soap drawer removed, pouring water into the dispenser cavity using (for example) a watering can, the water should flow straight down the dispenser to tub hose and into the drum with no probs! 😉
If that test fails then the hose is blocked. If the water flows straight into the drum OK then the problem is the water level control system. A blockage there is a very common fault and would cause the drum to completely overfill and flood out of the dispenser. 🙁

It could be the way the water sprays down from the roof of the soap box.
My sister has a Candy that sometimes leaks from the powder drawer. I had a look at the water flow pattern and most of the time it fell straight down into the drawer. Occasionally though, the water would spray outwards in a ‘curtain’. This was at an angle that allowed water to breach the lip of the drawer, then trickle under the drawer handle fascia, and down the machine’s front panel. Cleaning the offending roof channel had no effect whatsoever.
