ParticipantHi – my wd420 is about 2 years old. It’s stopped mid wash – the On/off light is flashing quickly and lights 2 and 4 (Reduce creases and time saver) are flashing slowly on the left and side. Anyone know what this means, or where I can find out these error codes? I’m based in Dublin – do Hotpoint have parts guarantees / warranties in Ireland?
Many thanks,

Ok thanks – I’m not much good at this type of thing, how do I go about checking if it’s blocked?

get the drain hose, put it in a bucklet or bowl. lower than the bottom of the washtub. if the water trickles out there is a blockage somewhere between the sump tube off the bottom of the tub which leads to the drain pump. as a test of the drain pump itself select slow spin or drain cycle and the water should whoosh out. if it doesn’t then find the blockage by removing sump hose and work your way to the pump.
hope this helps

You’ll hear the pump whirring, but the water won’t flow……..
If you are unsure how to drop the sump hose and clear the filter, please click the link below for a UKW engineer in your area.
Power off, if you are going to investigate.

Ok I bit the bullet earlier this evening and took off the hose…wasn’t as bad as I thought. There was a conical shaped plastic thingy sitting inside the hose attached to the underside of the machine (sump??), and inside this there was a white plastic ball. Initially I thought this was the problem (duh!) but then realised this was actually part of the machine. Inside the conical thingy there was, among other things, a make up remover pad, coins, bits of a cigarette lighter, and some gunk. I removed all this, replaced everything, and reattached the hose. Felling chuffed with myself I put on a 30 degree fast wash to test it out…but it’s still happening!
What could be causing it…was there something else I should have done? It’s still lights 2 and 4 (Reduce creases and time saver) flashing. By the way the water that drained out came from the hose pipe as opposed to the machine.
Thanks again,
