ParticipantHi,
Please can anyone help or advise with a Brandt CO27GWLU cooling problem.
A few days ago I noticed the fridge and freezer compartments not cooling anymore, food was starting to defrost, even though the compressor was running 24/7.
I thought this was down to ice build up in the freezer area behind the panel which although there was a little didn’t solve the problem.
I have pulled out the unit to check the back and although I’m no expert it was free from dust and had no leaks. I powered the unit back on after leaving it for a while with the temperature dial on 9 and flicked the orange switch (which I assume is fast freeze?).
Nothing initially happened, and then after a few mins the compressor started up and the back of the fridge (the upper half) started to get very cold (moving down) and freezer started to get cold-ish. Then, it all went horribly wrong and started to get warm again….
I left it on all last night at temperature 3, no fast freeze and this moring the compressor was working (and the freezer fan) but both compartments were warm after checking this morning.
All the door seals are ok and now the unit is off.
Could this be a faulty PCB/control board? If so can you advise of a price.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Unlikely to be the board on that machine although it is a possibility of course. Much more liable to be a compressor failure, basically overheating and cutting out although it is possible to be a PTC or klixon fault, but unlikely by the sounds, more like a pot failure.
The orange is fast freeze. All the fast freeze does on any of them is overrides the thermostat and runs the compressor full tilt without interruption basically, which is why when people leave it on in error, it often burns the compressor out. 😉
Almost classic compressor failure symptoms I’m afraid. 🙁

hi
i have worked on these fridges before and found that these have a gas problem internally. just check the back wall in fridge to see if its spongy, sometimes it is. but otherwise you might have to cut your losses and buy another fridge. sorry
