ParticipantHi There
I’ve got a tall-standing Bosch Fridge Freezer (KGV28V01GB Classixx) which is making a really bad grinding noise.
It leaked water on the floor of my kitchen last week, but none this week, apart from a heavy ice formation at the bottom of the freezer compartment.
The fridge temp. has gone up to 12C from the usual 8C and the freezer temp. light is set at 18C but the food doesn’t have the usual heavy frost.
Something is wrong – the grinding noise is loud enough to signify something abnormal.
It’s just ran out of its guarantee and I’m reluctant to call a Comet engineer out if there’s nothing much wrong with it.
Anyone got any bright ideas?
Thanks,
Stu.

I don’t think there are any fans or anything on this model, so the only thing
that can make a grinding noise would be the compressor 😥 .
This would also tie in with temp problems you are having.

Hi
A conventional, non electronic reliable fridge freezer usually.
The two models either /01 made in Feb 07 or /02 made in March 07
How can you be just out of guarantee
You have 2 year guarantee aswellGreg

Thanks for the replies, lads.
1. The grinding noise stops whenever I open the fridge door.
2. The freezer temp is fine, but the fridge temp is currently 12C – is this bad? The inside knob setting is at 3.5
3. Mr Gegsy – if I have a two year Bosch guarantee, would I still not have to pay for a Bosch engineer?
4. Mr Superfix – If it’s a compressor problem, is it easily fixed?
Someone from another site suggested an ice build up. I may try a manual defrost and see if that clears things.

Only if it was found not to be the appliance at fault.
The other thing that is odd is why the noise would stop when you open the door 😕 that would suggest to me that the model number you have given is incorrect and you infact have a frost free appliance 😕Greg

None shown on either model, had thought that as I have had a few dislodged in transit 😉
