ParticipantMy dishwasher is now 5 years old and the AUTO program has started to run into very lengthy wash times. 199 mins is not unusual and even if a shorter time is shown, the wash tends to go on for 3 hours or more! Searching the forum it seems that the likely cause is the unit that measures cloudiness in the water but I have no idea where to gain access to it to clean it. I took off the front plinth only to find a solid plastic base unit to which access seems impossible. Any suggestions?
Regards

Very likely the ‘Turbidity Sensor’ (it is called 😉 ) has clouded over. And after 5 years use will likely need replacing? However, firstly ensure if you are in a hard water area that you use salt (very important) and top it up regularly. Buy some Finish Dishwasher Cleaner and run that through the machine as instructed to try and flush it clean. If you are still having problems with the auto cycle after that? You have 2 choices, 1. don’t use Auto or 2. Have someone replace the Instanteneous Water Heater Unit (comes with Turbity Sensor attached). See link below for a local engineer to check it out for you. 😉

Try running the dishwasher empty, but use a dishwasher cleaner (liquid or tablets), as previously mentioned. Run it on the intensive / pots ‘n’ pans / superwash (65 degrees C or above). You may have to repeat this a few times. It is a far cheaper and easier option than fiddling with the internals. Make sure the filters are clean before you run the cleaning cycles.
I have a Bosch Logixx Automatic, that typically displays “Finished in 2hrs 30 mins” for the automatic super wash.
Last night it was put through two cleaning cycles with tablet-based descaler/cleaner, on the super wash programme.
Tonight, it miraculously was displaying for a full load, “Finished in 2hrs”. It had never read this low before.

Thanks for your replies. I’ve done all the obvious like dishwasher cleaners, running empty cycles with detergent, alternating quick washes with auto all with limited success. Last night it stuck on 1 minute for an hour 😯 I think that rather than spend money on getting an engineer out several times (I’m well out in the sticks in the Western Isles) and buying an expensive Instantaneous Water Heater I’ll retire the poor old thing and get a new one 🙁
Thanks guys.

Hold up!…that 1 in the display could be a ‘no heat’ error code, have you checked the pcb for dry joints?
Just a thought…..
