Hello everyone, I am new here so please be gentle 😆

I have the above make and model of Fridge freezer.

Monday morning I got up and it had stopped working completely… the lights are all on on the top (Freezer temp too warm, Holiday Button etc…) which indicates that there is power to it and the Fridge Light works also.

I can’t hear anything working (no fan or niose what so ever) 😥

Now the thing is, it’s only 3 years old !… We haven’t got any extended warranty on it, but there is the 5 years parts bit that Hotpoint offer…

Any Idea’s on what it may be ?…the cost of repairs ? and if it is worth getting Hotpoint in (paying for their labour) and getting the parts free??

I am a bit miffed as it is only 3 yeras old :rolls:

Thanks in advance…I look forward to any replies 😆 😆

Or no-one that could help read it yet. 😉

TBH it sounds board or compressor related so I’d advise getting Hotpoint in to do it. It will cost you £90 though. 🙁

OK – Fully electronically controlled appliance with electronic temperature sensors embedded in the insulation (ie not replaceable) So to help you establish what is at fault, first switch machine off for about an hour. Then switch back on and listen and see if you can hear a hum followed by a click or alternatively the motor running. (could be a slight delay on switch on) If you hear nothing then I would suggest you facia PCB is duff. If you hear the hum and click then your motor (compressor) is defective. Either way it will be cost effective to get Hotpoint to do it. If it is the sensors they may even offer you a deal on a new one. Good luck.

I also have a faulty Hotpoint fridge freezer model FFA70S which has only lasted three years. Mine is unrepairable (according to hotpoint) due to a blockage. If you check on Google you can find several references to these models breaking down after 3 years.

As Hotpoint won’t play ball (I wrote a letter of complaint) my advise would be to steer clear of Hotpoint now. They do not seem to be the company they were.

I ended up buying a second hand Hotpoint (about six years old) for £20 off ebay. It is superb and very well made.

That’s because they’re not, see this for more details 😉
