KeymasterHere’s the thing… ๐
I get right, err, “hacked off” (;)) with all this talk about what a TA is and isn’t so I decided to provide, in here, a definitive description and my take on that. So, in the interests of fairness I place my trust in Google…

I’m not going to argue that. But I will get Google to provide some more…
Google Search wrote:Definitions of Trade association on the Web:
* This organization comprises member firms and performs a number of service for them, one of which is lobbying the government. The names of many trade associations begin with National Association ofโฆ .
http://www.politicalscience.utoledo.edu/facult … os3260.htm* An organization that represents the interests of the member firms of an industry. It usually differs from a cartel in that it has no monopolistic intent.
media.pearsoncmg.com/intl/ema/ema_uk_he_lipczynski_indorg_2/0273688073_glossary.html* A group of food-service businesses that band together to promote food service and keep members informed about important matters and legislative developments.
http://www.glencoe.com/sec/busadmin/marketing/ … loss.shtml* A professional organization of manufacturers or other businesses formed to promote and industry or adopt uniform standards.
http://www.peakagents.ca/glossary/t8.htm* An industry trade group is generally a public relations organization funded, founded and formed by corporations that operate in a specific industry. Its purpose is generally to promote that industry through PR activities such as advertising, education, political donations, political pressure, publishing, and astroturfing.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trade_associationSo right then, tell me where what we have now fits into virtually ANY of those definitions?
The only one that could be applied, maybe and, it’s debatable, is the Peak Agents one.
Now I will admit to perhaps having a glass of wine (or so ) at this stage but I’m not bl00dy stupid and I can read. I have studied this quite extensively TBH and, a lot of the stuff you hear about “because we’re a TA” and “we have to do this” etc. is just utter and total cr4p.
I could go on, but I’ll shut it. ๐

I said from the word go ,if you start from scratch you can start afresh ,all of the old dogma’s and attitudes can go by the way side and we can have representation of the independent’s in the industry that is relevant and not skewed by vested interests.
People have tried to work with DASA in the past and for whatever reason that has not come off .
It’s absolutely right to call them to account for mis-representation ,hat’s of to them for the apology re ยฃ1000 quote .
I say time to move on, use the experience/s gained and put them to good use elsewhere.
Roll on Sept
