First of all there was no heat coming from the dryer at all, so after reading the posts in this forum I replaced the two thermostats.
After seemingly fixing the heat problem, I noticed that at the end of the drying cycle, instead of running cool for 10 minutes it just stops when it reaches the 10 minute mark on the dial.

Of course, this could have been the problem that caused the thermostat to fail in the first place if it wasn’t cooling down properly at the end of the cycle, but I’m not the main user so I don’t know whether this was a pre existing fault before the missus started moaning about the lack of heat.

    Any ideas gratefully received.

Almost certainly the heater contacts in the timer welded shut. This means you don’t get the cooling down period at the end of the cycle. When the airflow stops, the trapped heat will trip the safety.

Timer is p/no 1700938, about £30 from memory. Contact spares@ukwhitegoods.co.uk for pricing and ordering.

Power off if investigating and make a diagram before removing any wire.
