Firstly I fully suspect that my dishwasher is deceased. I’m just after confirmation that I should or should not call an engineer out to make sure.

I have a Hoover DT999 dishwasher that has suddenly died in a spectacular way.

The dishwasher has given great service for the last 3-4 years or so (since new).

In the midst of a wash cycle my son shouted ‘Dad the dishwasher is on fire!’, I ran to the scene to find smoke pouring out of it. I shut the water off to it and isolated it from the mains.

Now the only point I find strange is that the smoke did not have the acrid smell of an electrical fire, virtually no smell at all really.

Is this something the DT999 is prone to by which I mean only is it a known fault? Should I bother getting it repaired or even looked at?

    Thanks

Quite sure it wasn’t steam? Underfilling/poor circulation/loss of temperature control can generate huge amounts of steam.

To my knowledge there are no issues with that machine actually catching fire.

A phone call to Hoover in the morning might prove to be interesting!

I’m fairly sure it was smoke, I’ll try finding a number for Hoover and calling them.
