My dishwasher has started beeping at me when it’s near the end of it’s cycle and displaying F4. It appears to have cleaned the dishes and they are nearly dry. (lots of steam when I open the door) It was on the 60 wash but it seems to switch itself to the rinse only cycle. I hold down the start button until the beeping stops, move the programme back to 60 and shut the door. It makes a noise like it’s finishing and then silence, but I don’t get the normal 3 beeps to tell me it’s done.

If I use the rinse programme from the start this problem does not occur.

Any advice would be gratefully received.

F4 means it’s not drained, or registered the fact that it’s drained in the allotted time. You can only check the obvious…clean the filter, then have a look in the sump area under the filter, there’s a black plastic grid at the 3 o’clock position. Make sure it’s clean…toothbrush and hot water etc but be careful not to poke anything sharp through the holes, there’s a rubber diaphragm behind it which could get punctured.

If that doesn’t sort it you may need an engineer to confirm a pcb fault 😕

Thank you very much for your advice.
I have been cleaning the filter fairly regularly, but I didn’t know about the black grid. This was quite clogged up.
I cleaned it as you suggested and also used one of the dishwasher cleaners at 70deg wash. It completed the cycle with no problems!
