ParticipantHi all , can anyone help me with a hotpoint oven query ?
A mate of mine has got a built-in Hotpoint oven and he thinks the model number is ‘double oven BD31’ . Does this sound right ?
He says the fans working ok but it ain’t heating up so i’m guessing the elements gone . He’s asked me to have a look but being a Bosch/Neff bod , i don’t really have an idea of these ovens . If it is the rear element , are they easy enough to replace and can you tell me what the part number is ?If the model number is incorrect , where would he find the info required ?
Cheers in advance
Paul

Grab one of them. 4 back panel screws, 1 screw for the element. If it takes you more than 15 minutes, you’re doing it wrong 😀 .

Cheers my chilly flightless friend 😉 Just as an aside , are we talking 4 screws for rear plate inside the oven ? It does look decidedly simple…….

TURN THE COOKER POWER SUPPLY OFF BEFORE YOU DO ANY THING. 😉
you will find it easier to remove the door to get to the 4 screws and remove and replace the element. 😉

Don’t be daft Richard, its a built in oven, well off the ground, I know, I have the exact same model. No need to remove the door at all.
PS. No need to include ‘TURN THE COOKER POWER SUPPLY OFF BEFORE YOU DO ANY THING’
This is the trade section, give your fellow colleagues a bit of credit. 😉

safety first, pauls mate might have a go himself. if its a drop down door it just makes it easier. HTH

From nomadpaul’s first post. ‘He’s asked me to have a look’
It is a drop down door but due to the fact that this is a high level, built in oven it is a complete waste of time to remove the door, access is a doddle from either side of the door. HTH 😉

I’m with Richard here. I always take the door off when changing elements. It takes two seconds!
I find it very difficult working at arms length undoing the screws.
Another hint… use your crocodile clips from your meggar to keep hold of the wires when you disconnect them. If you drop them through the back it means taking the appliance out.
I always meggar the machine when finished through the interior light bulb.

Perhaps its my primate genes, I must have longer arms than some. 😆
I usually carry a couple of small bulldog clips to hold the wires.Jim.
