ParticipantI have been looking for a new machine that will last. I did hear that Miele’s had a 5 year warranty but they seem to be only 2 years! I fancied the honey comb drum idea but they are dearer. Then I noticed that if I got the MieleWT2670 it seemed to come with all the functions plus is a drier too. I rarely need a drier but have not any space for one (old one has been lost in the garage for years). But then it would be handy to have the option…and it was not all that much dearer than the washing machines with the same functions. Does a condensor drier use the same waste pipe as the washer part?
Then I saw the new ISE machine due to come out in August with a 10 year guarantee but cannot see a price anywhere and don’t know if it is available.
All I want is a good reliable machine (have tried various ones over the years and am fed up with floods, replacing brushes, clothes stuck in them, ones that attack the nearest walls, plus all the tasks of adding to the world’s junk, landfill etc) Please advise….

Hi truffle,
The ISE you mean is the new ISE10 washing machine.
Due to an unforeseen production delay they will not be in the UK until week commencing the 17th September and there’s little we can do about it I’m afraid.
The machine is built for us in Sweden with a 20+ year life expectancy, every component is tested to be able to endure in excess of 8,000 cycles minimum. Anywhere it is practical steel replaces plastic. In other words, the machine is built without compromise to cost. It also isn’t compromised on performance with A+AA rated in terms of energy efficiency and has some really fast cycle times, way better than any I’ve seen.
The price is £799 from any of the local retailers, there is an extra delivery cost for online sales I’m afraid that we can’t avoid, and that is for the machine with the ten year warranty.
However, I will not take away from Miele either as they also build a good machine and there is little doubt in that. The Honeycomb drum I’m not convinced about, I really don’t see any advantage to it so I wouldn’t be inclined to tell people to pay more to get it.
As for the dryer, I know on ours (due with the washer) that it can use the same waste pipe as the kit is included to do that as well as the stacking kit but I don’t know if the Miele dryer is the same. I would expect it would be though.

Hi , i am currently running a machine made by the manufacturer of the ISE 10 , it is a superb piece of engineering , and performs brilliantly . this is despite it being 18 years old and Washing for 4 . The machine still looks and sounds as new . As an engineer i am looking forward to the arrival of ise 10 onto a market dominated by cheap poor quality machines which have a lifespan measured in months rather than years . It was interesting to read you were fed up having brushes etc replaced , i used to spend a considerable amount of time replacing carbon brushes but truth be told the current crop of machines don’t last long enough to wear their brushes down. Good to see that there are a few of us out there leading a crusade for change . and at last we have got a machine that we can truely reccomend again . john
