ParticipantI see BBC News 24 did a half hour program on Austria and their commitment to recycling. They recycle 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} of their waste compared to 20{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} in the UK.
The other 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} is composted or turned into Bio Gas.
They also recondition old appliances to a very high standard which creates jobs for local people.
Also if an appliance is seen to be durable it gets an “NCERT” Certificate.
To qualify for this parts have to be available for at least 10 years, be easy to repair and have a track record of reliability. Bad luck Indersit 😆
Did notice a Titan machine in this film.Graham

As usual the UK goverment dragging behind run by idiots ! if these people can implement this why cannot we ?
Personally I find that the powers to be are just full of hot air and no do, least wise until Europe crack the penantly whips and we have to cough up a hefty fine, but thats how our politicians work.
As for the Bio Gas idea thats great, just imagine if we could convert all the hot air spurted by the politicians into usable gas ! it would help the enviroment no end.

You are right Squadman UK politicians are full of hot air on this subject 😥
It also stated that Austria does all it can to beat recycling targets set by the EU while the UK Government struggle to even meet the targets.
😥

If they recycled 60{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} and composted/biogassed 40{e5d1b7155a01ef1f3b9c9968eaba33524ee81600d00d4be2b4d93ac2e58cec2d} that would suggest they have cracked the “zero waste” problem. Something wrong with the figures here methinks or at least the definition of “recycle”. They are very likely well ahead of us but not that far. I saw pics of an incinerator for municipal waste sited in Vienna a few years ago. That’s not really “recycling” is it? If we wanted to match their performance we would need to build a whole lot of incinerators, too. The UK gov. have been trying to implement this policy for a few years but have come up against a lot of public opposition. Which is one of the reasons why they’re now in the process of trying to get planning laws changed to make it easier to get past said opposition.
