ParticipantApologies in advance for asking a probably dumb question.
Today I started calling all the usual online retailers to enquire on stock availability for an AEG 14710 washer dryer. It seems that almost all of them had no stock available and had to order it directly from the manufacturer.
However, I found a company in London that have them in stock. They are also members of the AEG Centres of Excellence.
However, I have to admit that I am a bit sceptical as it seems to be the only AEG appliance they have in stock.
Do appliances have different revisions? And if so, is there anyway that I can verify if the washer/dryer is of the latest release or if it is graded? or am I just being completely paranoid and should simply switch off? :conf:
Thank you
Alex

You’ll find that with quite a lot of online retailers Alex, they hold no stock. Basically they order it as they need it and get a direct delivery done.
Let’s just say that some of us have, err, “issues”, with this method of trading. 😉
Fact is that you are often far better off looking for a local retailer. Generally better advice than the chains stores as well as internet stores who very often seem to not have a clue beyond the specifications published in the brochure or manufacturer’s website. Quite often cheaper as well.

Hi Kwatt
Thanks for the reply. The shop that I found is a local one in London but they also have an online presence.
To be honest, I was very happy to see that a bricks&mortar place had such a competitive price in comparison with the online retailers. And since they are local they can guarantee a quicker delivery.
I guess that I was so surprised to see that they had the specific item in stock (as opposed to all the other chains) that gave me the impression that something was wrong.
So overall, you reckon that I shouldn’t really worry about buying it from a smaller local place. I guess that having it in stock is probably rather good.
In your experience are the Centres of Excellence just a sales gimmick or do they actually have to do something to maintain the status?
R,
Alex

Hi Alex,
I wouldn’t worry at all about buying from a smaller local dealer as you will, almost always, get better advice and service at the very least.
All these centre things, basically if you buy enough stock or buy a big display, you generally qualify. 😉
