Forgive my ignorance, but the new integrated drier we’ve had fitted bears a stunning similarity to the free-standing White Knight drier we got last year.

I take it either that they are the same company, that the machinery that White Knight used has been sold on to Baumatic (a la Fiat and Lada in the 70s) or that Baumatic buy their machines in from White Knight and re-badge them (a la Ford Galaxy/Seat Alhambra/VW Sharan).

Would that be right? And before I pull the builders’ pile of rubble/tools &c apart looking for the manual for the drier, does the reset button being on the back (just like the old machine!) mean that I’ll have to pull it out should it trip?

    Cheers,

    Gerry

No, no, no – “badging”…….. White Knight is owned by Crosslee, down at Brighouse, West Yorkshire – the last British appliance manufacturer. They’ll make tumble dryers for anybody!

And yes, the red re-set button is still on the back. However, proper installation and care of filters etc should mean it is largely redundant.

I may print this and stick it to the inside of the door for the benefit of my sons! They don’t seem to believe me when I tell them they need to clean the filter properly every time the machine is used. Maybe they’ll believe you.

[If so, can you also have a word with them about drying the shower-room floor after them so I don’t bash my head on the radiator again? Well, here’s hoping.]

    Thanks for your reply.
